In Italy, They're Now Taxing Shadows
Zero Hedge ^ | 20 March 2015 | Tyler Durden

As Greece struggles to convince the world it’s serious about adopting a series of reforms designed to bolster its economy including cracking down on rampant tax evasion, the Syriza government may want to look to Italy for creative ideas on how to boost government revenue. As Italian newspaper Leggo reports, store owners in Conegliano are now faced with the unfortunate (albeit comically absurd) proposition of paying taxes on shadows.

The rationale appears to go something like this: an awning casts a shadow on public property and therefore you must pay to use that property.

The shop owners should sue the government for allowing harmful solar rays to fall on their property.

Makes as much sense as suing people for rain water as EPA has tried to do here.

Volume of air and bodily emissions to be taxed next as soon as they can figure out the technology and get the liberals to agree to it which is guaranteed to be in the bag

I wonder how they factor in cloudy days, times when the sun is at the wrong angle, solar eclipses, etc?

So business owners will just take down their awnings and, once again, it’s the public that loses.

, solar eclipses, etc? —

Tax the Sun.

If the Sun does not pay, put a lien on it.

Fly up there and land when you want to collect.

So simple.

Yes, the ecosystem libtards at UWM (University of Wisconsin Milwaukee) tried to implement a tax on farmland here, claiming that farmland caused flooding. Obviously the IMPERVIOUS surfaces (roofs, roads, parking lots) cause the flooding — not grass, woods, and turf. But it cost a lot of meetings and $50,000 to make them go away.

A tax on a tax. And a tax on that tax. And another tax on that tax. Then another tax for the administrative tax of being taxed. And a tax to cover that tax....

That’s nothing. In my state, they tax the rain.

Thank you, Martin O’Muttley.

This reminds me of a Mexican made movie in my collection. A dictator bemoans the fact he can find nothing to tax when his adviser says..”I wish we could tax the air they breath!”

The dictator likes the idea so much they tax all doors and windows.

So everyone starts bricking up their doors and windows except one which the homeowner must then climbs in and out of.
