I've seen plenty of counterexamples, so that generalization obviously cannot be true.

I said conservative, not people who pretend to be, or wish it was, or who imagine conservatism as their own thing. Here is a great description of conservatism from Free Republic's founder, Jim Robinson, you should attempt to understand.

I doubt you will be here very long because you have no real understanding of what conservatism is. Perhaps you should go join some liberaltarian or commiecon site. They would be more to your liking.
