UN envoy: Yemen is being pushed ‘to the edge of civil war’

The U.N. special envoy for Yemen warned an emergency meeting of the U.N. Security Council on Sunday that events appear to be leading the Arab country “to the edge of civil war” and urged all parties to step back from the brink and resolve the conflict peacefully.

Jamal Benomar stressed repeatedly in a video briefing from Qatar that “peaceful dialogue is the only option we have.”

That view was echoed by the Security Council in a presidential statement which reaffirmed the readiness of the U.N.’s most powerful body to take “further measures” against any party impeding the road to peace in Yemen. That could mean new sanctions, or possibly other actions. […]

The Houthis newly announced move to take over the entire country follows the suicide bombings of a pair of mosques in Sanaa that killed 137 people which were claimed by the Islamic State group. It also followed clashes around Aden’s airport and planes from Sanaa dropping bombs on the city’s presidential palace which Benomar said fortunately did not injure Hadi, who is strongly supported by the Security Council. …

Oh? You’re just fine with Iran getting a foothold on the Red Sea?

Remember that this is due to Obama’s assistance to Iran, not due to any ineptitude on Yemen’s part.

I wonder if more muslims have died as a result of Obama’s policies than Bush’s war. At least Bush limited his muslim killing to armies and terrorists, where Obama’s victims are more often the civilian populations.

We certainly won’t get those numbers from the MSM “praetorian guard media”.

So does Obama, apparently. He seems intent on setting the entire “Asia Minor” on fire.

You want to get between an AQAP-ISIS-Iran threeway?

Obama certainly does. And it would not be a three way besides, what with ISIS’ AQ affiliation. Never mind Iran’s past (and/or present) help towards AQ of all permutations.

You neglected to mention outright war between Israel and HAMAS in the Gaza Strip, ISIL invading Iraq, Iran taking tighter control of Southern Iraq, Civil War in Afghanistan, the takeover of Crimea by Russia, Chinese aggression in the South China Sea, increasing instability due to the melt down in North Korea, and the take over of secular Turkey by Islamic extremists connected to the Muslim Brotherhood and a generally deteriorating situation in Pakistan.

"I support an Iran-Iraq War in Yemen."

I think what you are seeing in Yemen has Saudi Arabia getting increasingly nervous, not Iraq. Iraq's government is now more or less Shia dominated and has a lot more in common with Iran than ever. It is Saudi Arabia and the rest of the Gulf states (along with Jordan) who are getting increasingly nervous about Iran's growing influence in the region.

Might as well add in Canada, since Obama declared war on their oil fields.
