Sigh. “NEW, NEW, NEW! Driverless Car(includes driver)!”
Old news. Autonomous vehicles have b been capable of this for years, I think over a decade by now.
The potential for significant increases in freedom is great, as long as we do not allow the government to be in control of the car. As of now, they are not. The vehicles really are autonomous.
The increase in safety will likely be significant. Most vehicular accidents are caused by driver error, and most of those will be eliminated by an autonomous vehicle.
Frankly I hope it crashes (with no injuries to others). This is the ridiculousness of the left. If I think it then it must be done. All of the silly notions that cars MUST be driverless to ‘improve’ traffic flow and fuel efficiency are just that. As with all software there will come a time when it doesn’t work(because software always fails at some point) and in that moment a driverless car is nothing more than a weapon on the road
