President Barack Obama called on congressional Republicans to confirm Loretta Lynch as attorney general, saying that the GOP was holding her nomination hostage for political reasons.
In an interview with the Huffington Post on Friday, Mr. Obama said that Ms. Lynchs confirmation vote shouldnt fall victim to congressional horse-trading.
You dont hold attorney general nominees hostage for other issues, Mr. Obama said.
Ms. Lynchs confirmation has been delayed by a fight over a human trafficking bill in Congress. Democrats object to the bills abortion provisions, while Republicans say Democrats are playing politics with victims of sex trafficking.

I’m pretty sure she’s free to leave any time she wants. Nobody is going to keep her from walking out the door. Go Lynch! Spread your wings and learn to fly.
Everything is a hostage now.
Whenever the Dems don’t like the political action, whatever they want is being held “hostage.” If they can call a black woman a hostage, that’s even better propaganda than usual.
This is a woman who refused to put any limits on presidential power when asked in her confirmation hearings. Did it ever occur to them that that is the reason sensible people don’t like her? Sure it did. It isn’t just amnesty, as Rich Lowry said. She’s a prop to the imperial throne.
The Senate is complicit in the monarchy if they approve her. None of them can ever complain again.
