Naftali Bennett, the head of the religious-Zionist Bayit Yehudi Party, will condition his entry into Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's coalition on an explicit commitment from the premier that his government will rule out the creation of a Palestinian state, Channel 2 is reporting on Friday.
What? You mean Bennett doesn’t trust campaign promises?
In a just and civilized world, the borders of Israel would stretch from the Mediterranean to the Persian Gulf.
Naftali Bennett wants the Prime Minister’s election pledge in writing.
He should seek to obtain it and if not - to sit in the opposition.
Bennett’s party controls 8 seats.
Bibi can’t form a right wing coalition without him.
the proper question is what additional land Israel needs for her defense and long-term viabiilty
not what Obama or the other mass-murdering IslamoNazis over there can rip off from her
The curve ball I was expecting was Bibi ditching the religious parties for Yesh Atid. I really didn’t expect Bennett to play hard ball after his party took something of a beating.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he has not changed his support for a TWO-STATE SOLUTION, with the proper security concerns taken care of.
This has been long-standing for Netanyahu, in his support for a TWO-STATE SOLUTION.
Either Bennett changes his position or he’s “out”.
The right wing controls 67 seats.
Without Bennett they’d only reach 59 (2 shy).
Bibi needs to show some backbone here with Zero and reinstate his campaign pledge.
Zero will always hate Bibi no matter what he does.
If Netanyahu can’t form a government, the task will be given to someone else. But I think he can ... :-) ...
Turnout was 72.3 percent, the highest in 15 years.
Likud (right) - 30
Zionist Union (centre-left) - 24
Joint Arab List - 13
Yesh Atid (centrist) - 11
Kulanu (center-right) - 10
Jewish Home (pro-settler nationalist); 8
Shas (Orthodox) - 7
Yisrael Beitenu (nationalist) 6
United Torah Judaism (Orthodox); 6
Meretz (far-left) 5
Netanyahu gets HAMMERED by Obama, the New York Times and the UK ... and then on the right, he gets hammered by some Israeli papers and other Nationalists on the right ... LOL ...
Netanyahu maintains the same position hes ALWAYS HAD with negotiating with the PA for forming a Palestinian State. As I suspected and have known from before, Netanyahus position on that is reasonable and fair ... and HAS NOT CHANGED!
And on the issue of ARABS In Israel, he made clear what his position HAS ALWAYS BEEN with Israeli Arab Citizens ... they have full rights of any citizen and they will be helped by various social programs as he has always done, and they will NOT be discriminated against. They are FULLY INTEGRATED into Israeli society!
BOTH of those things sounds EXACTLY like the Netanyahu from before and extremely fair. Israel should be EXTREMELY PROUD of Netanyahu as their Prime Minister!
Prime Minister Netanayahu gets SLAMMED by the Left and the New York Times ... AND ... and he gets SLAMMED by the Right and the Israeli papers ... LOL ...
AGAIN ... Netanyahus position on being very willing to negotiate with the PA and very willing in forming a Palestinian State has remained the SAME for years ... as he pointed out from his Bar-Ilan speech.
Netanyahu has never been the holdup on forming the Palestinian State, it has been the Palestinian Authority who has been the holdup. They dont want to get the Palestinian State through negotiations with Israel, but they want to get it from it being imposed from the outside without any conditions attached,
Netanyahu Flip Flop: I Want a Two-State Solution [Israel]

Days after vowing not to establish a Palestinian state, Netanyahu says something else in his first post-election interview.
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has retracted his pre-election statements, according to which he would not allow a Palestinian state to be established.
I dont want a one-state solution. I want a sustainable, peaceful two-state solution, Netanyahu said Thursday in an interview with MSNBCs Andrea Mitchell. I havent changed my policy.
Netanyahu said his earlier comments were a reflection of changing conditions on the Palestinian side, pointing to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbass pact to form a unity government with Hamas, which Israel, the U.S. and most European countries consider a terrorist organization.
Im talking about what is achievable and what is not achievable, Netanyahu said Thursday, insisting that he would support a demilitarized Palestinian state under a plan that would ensure Israels security.
You said ... “Bibi needs to show some backbone here with Zero and reinstate his campaign pledge.”

That’s not been Netanyahu’s position. He has been in support of a TWO-STATE SOLUTION for years (given that the security situation is addressed).
He won’t be “reinstating” what HE SAID is NOT his position.
Didn't Netanyahu just agree to his condition the day before the election?
See Post #12 ...
“I really didnt expect Bennett to play hard ball after his party took something of a beating.”
Even after seeing what Hussein does after he and his party take a beating?
Bibi’s opposition enjoys the full support of America’s Fraud in Chief, his advisers and our $$.
this is good
as much as I like Bibi , he does get a little bit squishy at times . He quit the last go-around in Gaza too soon .
He needs to remember : Victory means that the enemy is totally defeated . Not just knocked back a bit to fight another day .
Of course this is all a matter of semantics. A Pali state isn’t going to happen because the enemy side only wants war.
But he said what he said on Monday:
In an interview published Monday in the nrg news website, Netahyahu said withdrawing from occupied areas to make way for a Palestinian state would only ensure that territory will be taken over by Islamic extremists. When asked if that means a Palestinian state will not be established if he is elected, Netanyahu said “indeed.”
What he said Thursday to US media appeared to observers to be at least somewhat of a retraction to appease Zero.
IMO it is far too early to start making conciliatory statements to appease those who have just waged a massive and illegal campaign to overthrow him and his government.
At heart, Netanyahu is a secular who regards those quaint religious folks as a nuisance, and Judea, Samaria, Gaza and east Jerusalem as expendable. But he at least he does recognize security realities.
See Post #12 ... Netanyahu SAYS VERY CLEARLY he has not changed his position on supporting a TWO-STATE SOLUTION from his Bar-Ilan speech which outlines the necessary conditions. This is the SAME EXACT NETANYAHU we have seen for years. Nothing has changed!
