MADISON, Wis. — In 1992, Robert O. Barton was charged with having sexual intercourse with a 4-year-old child in Wausau.
The child told authorities she was sexually assaulted at least 10 times, according to the disturbingly graphic court documents.
Barton, 41 at the time, was charged with first-degree sexual assault of someone under the age of 13, and child enticement, sexual contact. He faced a maximum prison sentence of 70 years on the two counts.
Two Wausau police officers testified to the validity of the child’s accusations.
But the charges eventually were dismissed by Marathon County Judge Ann Walsh Bradley, at the request of the assistant district attorney at the time, Jill Falsted, who went on to serve as Marathon County DA.
Three years later, in 1995, Bradley would run successfully for a seat on the state Supreme Court, her first of two terms to date. The justice, a member of court’s left wing, is running for re-election against conservative Rock County Circuit Court Judge James Daley. The election is set for April 7.
Falsted was appointed to the Marathon County Circuit Court in 2009 by former Gov. Jim Doyle, a Democrat. She is running unopposed for another six-year term.
Not long before Bradley was first elected to the state Supreme Court, Robert O. Barton pleaded no contest to three counts of fourt-degree sexual assault — this time before a different judge and prosecutor.
In January 1995, he was sentenced to four years in prison, but the sentence was withheld in lieu of probation and 169 days in jail, according to court records.
Walsh’s campaign did not return requests for comment. Falsted did not return several phone calls seeking comment.
Police said the little girl in the 1992 case claimed she was given a toy in return for each sexual encounter with the man she described as her “big friend,” according to court documents. She said her “big friend” had given her 10 toys. He also told not to tell her about the time they spent together in his garage, documents state.
The 4-year-old was issued a subpoena to testify at a preliminary hearing. It appears she did not want to, or at least her mother did not want her to.
The defense attorney who represented Barton in the 1992 case, Paul M. Goetz, said he didn’t remember the case, but did say that Falsted moving to dismiss a case was unusual.
“Did he reoffend?” Goetz asked. “These people need chemical castration.”
Get this woman OFF of the Wisconsin Supreme Court. This is the one who accused another justice of assaulting her when she is the one who attacked him and he merely raised his arms to fend off her blows.

Judge Ann Walsh Bradley is a Socialist POS! She MUST go! If we can retain, and add to, a solid coalition of Conservative Judges, Wisconsin will be in FINE shape!

In case anyone missed it, this nut job (Bradley) was the one who accused Judge Prosser of choking her. No charges were filed.
