NY Times lashes out at surprise Netanyahu win [Israel]
The Jerusalem Post ^ | Wednesday, March 18, 2015 | Staff

Only hours after the surprise Likud victory, following weeks of polls showing the party would lose by as many as five mandates, the American media began its harsh critique of the Israeli election results, and especially of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The New York Times editorial titled "An Israeli Election Turns Ugly" criticized Netanyahu and questioned his legitimacy for the Israeli people, saying that "Mr. Netanyahu showed that he was desperate, and craven, enough to pull out all the stops."

"Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s outright rejection of a Palestinian state and his racist rant against Israeli Arab voters on Tuesday showed that he has forfeited any claim to representing all Israelis."

Continuing their harsh critique, the piece said that "In his desperation, Mr. Netanyahu resorted to fear-mongering and anti-Arab attacks while failing to address the issues that Israelis said they were most worried about, namely the high cost of housing and everyday living in Israel."

I guess it's a matter of perspective. Sure Netanyahu pulled out all stops, because he was under intense attack and was in danger of losing. But, that's what Netanyahu has been good at doing ... "Pulling it out of the fire" ... :-) ...

As I was telling someone else who was wondering if Netanyahu was "truly behind" and if the polls were fake ... I said the following ...

No, I don’t think they were. Both Netanyahu and his party Likud were really worried. It looked like Likud was getting ready to throw him out of the leadership position if he lost. I even heard that Netanyahu told some in the party that he would resign if he got below a certain threshold of seats (I think it was “18”).

What Netanyahu did was to “pull out all stops” and radically changed his campaigning at the very end ... and he finally did pull votes from the Nationalists (in general) over to the Likud. Netanyahu went “all out” at the end.

Nice use of weasel words by the Slimes. Imagine if some other paper did such to attack Obama?

“President Obama, known homosexual and communist, today...”

That paper’s office would be firebombed.

So Obama operatives in Israel and the world press gin up the pre-election polls in an attempt to sway voters and are surprised by the actual results.

Shocking.

Had the news of both zer0 and the MSM working hard to defeat Bibi not gotten out, the results quite possibly could have been different.

I’m probably the last one to realize that this is why obammy didn’t want Bibi to speak to Congress. It gave him a big boost back home just before the elections.

Did anyone expect the deranged leftist “editorialists” to congratulate Netanyahu? The Times behaves predictably. They at their core feel a terrible injustice has been imposed on the Palestinians and bemoan the existence of an Israel which will not acquiesce to its own destruction. Face it. No serious Israeli leader will ever embrace the absurdity of a “two state solution” that the Times so eagerly and naively promotes. The establishment of a self governing militarized entity of hostile Palestinians in adjacent Gaza has been a strategic disaster. An even larger Palestinian state composed of the West Bank and Gaza with Israel confined to pre 1967 indefensible borders is not a viable option.
