I learned a long time ago that it's often pointless to analyze elections in foreign countries, especially those with parliamentary systems of government where the elections usually result in the establishment of a governing coalition involving multiple political parties.

One of the problems you face when analyzing elections like this is that we tend to assume that the issues we think are important here in the U.S. are the same issues that they think are important over there.

Netanyahu called the election an almost-record two years early because he felt he was in an intolerably weak position. These election results appear to leave him in almost the exact same position he was before.

The survival of Israel used to be one in the same between our two governments.
