Just like our friends down in Me-hee-co. Don’t want to vote, no worries the army will show up to escort you to your polling station.

"Oregon will now register you to vote vote on your behalf, whether you want to or not, you peasant" There! Fixed it.

It makes no sense. I wonder what they're up to?

It’s not honorable to me. Everyone needs to be responsible for the people and other items on the ballot.

This makes it handy to “deem” that everyone has voted Democrat. Why even have elections in OR?
To: SeekAndFind
And they’ll vote for you, too, if you don’t show up.

This was already done by driver’s license roles in OR. Had to laugh when a neighbor that has always refused to register...”because I don’t want jury duty” got called up.

...that it is ones RESPONSIBILITY to vote, as a citizen. But it's so hard in Oregon. Ya gotta fill out the ballot and put a stamp on it. After that, who has the energy to walk it out to the mailbox?

Not very “green.” Now everyone will be getting all that trash political direct mail, and post office trucks will burn more fuel delivering it.

And you will vote a minimum of five times. Whether you show up or not.
To: Red Badger
Australia punishes people for not voting. I think there is a tax penalty and you can’t obtain certain government benefits if you did not vote. With a tiny population they did it to prevent a small group of organized radicals from taking over.
I’m sure the Libs here are busy studying their tactics.
To: cripplecreek
Dont worry. If you dont want to vote the democrats have you covered.Vote? Eventually your vote will be determined by demographics, no fuss no muss.

Same here. They tell me they don't want to register because they don't want to get jury duty. So... I get doubly mad and tell them there are very few things Americans *should* do as good citizens... voting and jury duty. Deaf ears usually.
To: gundog
When I was doing it Oregon, I wouldn’t mail it. I dropped it off at election headquarters ... :-) ... just to make sure it got there. Even if it’s postmarked the right time, if the Post Office delivers it late, you won’t get counted.
