Our prisons are overflowing with non-violent offenders— people who have never assaulted anyone, and, furthermore, who have not committed burglaries in pursuance of their bad habits.
On the contrary, most of these "non-violent offenders" simply got pulled over by some cops who routinely go on fishing expeditions, and invent fake reasons to establish probable cause.
You've seen some of the recent court cases. You know as well as I that the Fourth Amendment has become a joke in law enforcement circles; it's essentially been nullified, all in the name of the War on Drugs, and as if that's weren't enough, the War on Terror.
Non-violent offenders are clogging our prison systems with mandatory minimum sentences, while violent offenders are released.
And when I say "non-violent" offenders, I'm not talking about people who commit actual crimes like burglary and theft. I'm talking about people who have committed no crime other than the phony one of possessing some thing against the edicts of the State.
