MKs: Livni-Herzog Backtrack a New Low
Arutz Sheva ^ | 3/16/2015, 8:20 PM | Tova Dvorin

Posted on 03/16/2015 12:41:56 PM PDT by Dave346

"The historic announcement of Livni and Herzog marks new lows in terms of broken promises," MK Yariv Levin (Likud) stated Monday night. "If, until today, we had grown accustomed to the Left breaking its promises after elections, now these promises are being broken even before the polls open."

"Whoever can't handle the stress of the night before elections is not able to handle the day-to-day stresses of premiership," he added. "Now it is absolutely clear that there is only one suitable candidate for Prime Minister - Binyamin Netanyahu - and that only one party fulfills its promises: Likud."

"Livni's misstep is due to panic and a lack of trustworthiness," Deputy Environmental Protection Minister Ofir Akunis (Likud) said. "Voters aren't blind to tricks. In a moment of panic, it is already difficult for the Israeli public to follow the political twists of Buji [Yitzhak Herzog - ed.] and Livni as they struggle to close the gap between them and Likud."

"What is clear here is that, for Labor-Hatnua, there is no path, there is no vision, there is no ability to actualize a better future for the citizens of Israel, and now, there is no trust," he added.

Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz (Likud) agreed.

"Buji Herzog failed in his first test of leadership and has proven to be untrustworthy," Katz argued. "After he crafted an entire campaign around the idea of a rotation, he retreats on that decision, and the central promises he made during the election campaign, on the night before elections due to pre-elections jitters."

"We can only imagine what might happen if, G-d forbid, he becomes prime minister, and has to make decisions on Iran or on crucial political or economic decisions," Katz added.

I agree; this makes the Tzipi-Bougie team look desperate and weak. Someone is holding their feet to the fire. It’s not how you want to look the day before the polls open.

I hope the Israeli voters embarrass the $h1+ out of MuzziCom Obama.

I also wish there was a way Obama could go to jail for meddling in Israel’s election.

Actually, what it does is make the Zionist Union more acceptable to a larger group of voters. It solidifies it.

Of course, Netanyahu was attempting to solidify his position, too ... when he announced he was no longer going to permit a Palestinian State to exist ... a remarkable change in his previous stance ... when he said he would go anywhere at any time to form a Palestinian State.

Both sides have announced these things in the last few hours! It looks like both sides are trying to solidify their stance and attract more voters.

perhaps there’s a way he can go to prison
for meddling in America’s elections, too?

That’s just “political talk” ... LOL ...

What the Zionist Union did was to take Tzipi Livni out of the picture in order to attract a wider collection of voters. ALSO it would open up things to possibly having a Unity Government. The ZU is simply preserving its options.

Big time: Tzipi had to agree NOT to serve as PM after two years of Bougie.

It solidifies it.

I would agree, except that this was a very big concession. Not something one does under ordinary circumstances. What kind of deal did they have to make? If I were an undecided voter, this would make me more likely to vote Likud.

They were going to take two years each as PM. Now Tzipi said she won’t hold Buji to that deal if he needs to negotiate something different. Why is Likud so upset? Because the greater flexibility makes it more possible for Herzog to assemble a government, and therefore more likely for Rivlin to give him the mandate.

I think the “deal” was simply the ability to win, by being more attractive to a wider variety of voters. Also, a possible Unity Government.

It’s a very high-risk gambit, as it could negatively affect the way the votes are cast tomorrow. It’s like betting everything.

They do this just the day before the election.

Buzi and Tzipi are the most cynical and unprincipled people I’ve ever seen in my life.

They justly deserve to lose for this backhanded stunt.
