Several dozen gun-rights supporters descended on a Lower Merion park Sunday afternoon in a peaceful show of force protesting a local gun ordinance.

The rule does not ban legal guns from parks, but rally organizers say it is vaguely written and should be repealed. Some said it is illegal.

Demonstrators carried firearms in Bala Cynwyd Park. Gun-control advocates said earlier they would avoid the demonstration. Lower Merion Township Commissioner Brian McGuire declared the rally an "armed occupation

“an armed occupation” by the citzenry?

Odd sort of “occupation” — when it’s the people themselves who are present.

Gun-control advocates said earlier they would avoid the demonstration.

This my favorite part. Those nuts actually fear that they might be shot.

It's about power. State and local government employees want to rule over all others. So yes, firearms in the hands of common Americans scare them. Active in both political parties, they use sneaky methods to influence politicians and carry out their own policies toward gun control.

Our government was not originally intended to operate mainly by threat of force, but too many in offices appear to agree with governing that way (”us against them”).

““an armed occupation” by the citzenry?”

And just how do those who actually own the park become “occupiers?”
I suspect that this AH McGuire thinks the park belongs to him and his fellow council members.

Right down the road from me.

I might know someone who carries legally about four times a week from Manayunk to Cynwyd Station via the Cynwyd trail. I think Whitemarsh township has signs posted along their section of the Schuylkill river trail. They have been studiously ignored for 8 years.

Had a buddy who used to deadpan in front of a "mixed company" Philly audience that Philly crime was out of control because of all the criminals taking the local from Paoli into town. He was one of those guys who could get away with saying almost anything.
