Bill Badger was a hero even before he helped save people's lives during the Jan. 8, 2011, shooting in a grocery store parking lot that killed six people and injured 13, including former U.S. Rep. Gabby Giffords.
The Army veteran died Wednesday morning of pneumonia, according to his wife, Sallie Badger. He was 78.

"We wanted desperately to have background checks on every gun that was sold," Sallie Badger said. "And Bill just made that his mission."
Jared Loughner PASSED BACKGROUND CHECKS!!!!
So, what are they REALLY trying to achieve???
Thank you for your service and sacrifices colonel.
May you Rest in Peace sir. Salute
Gun registration.
Then confiscation.
RIP.
I find this very odd. Giffords’ husband and apparently Badger both have placed an emphasis on background checks...allegedly in response to the shooting.
But - Loughner passed a background check.
So why on earth would these two emphasize background checks? It would have done nothing....NOTHING...to stop Loughner.
Never let a crisis go to waste, I guess.
Giffords REFUSED armed escort offers from both the Tucson Police and Pima County Sheriffs Office. Betcha didn’t know that. She survived. 6 died without that protection.
