I’ve seen those maps at the Library of Congress website, but the resolution wasn’t very good and they didn’t upload very well. Very good find of the website with the zoom feature on the map reader.
Some very nice finds indeed. I was the 45th to view the video of civilians in Neuss. And yes, the Germans were an orderly lot; give them the order to clean up and they’ll get right on it. Just following orders.
Well, the bridge at Remagen doesn't collapse for another 5 days. Until then, Hodges is pouring everything he has across a two lane railroad bridge.
Patton is either now, or in a few days on leave in Paris. The third Army doesn't get across the Rhine until the end of March, but they do beat Monty.
One of the serious problems in planning the fight against American doctrine is that the Americans do not read their manuals, nor do they feel any obligation to follow their doctrine...
The Sov's? Kill their leader and those conscript tankers were clueless.
The engineers at Remagen will have several tredway and pontoon bridges in place by the time the Ludendorf bridge collapses.
IIRC these bridges would be the longest tactical bridges in the ETO.
Ah Ha, found some documentation...
