Right now Korea is considering legislation that it will not recognize the American citizenship of Korean anchor babies. Wealthy Koreans go to the U.S. to give birth, so that they can claim their sons are Americans and thus exempt from the Korean military draft. This has made the Korean government and public hopping mad.
The Koreans can see it, but we can’t.
Rich Swiss women have been doing this also for decades. It facilitated getting them into American universities and working in the USA if their kids don’t make it into the Swiss system, which is determined by 6th grade. But with an American bachelor’s degree the Swiss universities will accept them into school. So the moms opt for dual citizenship.
