China accuses Dalai Lama of 'profaning' Buddhism by signalling end to reincarnation
ABC News ^ | 10 March 2015 | Stephen McDonell

A bizarre dispute involving the Dalai Lama and the Chinese Communist Party has broken out at China's annual meeting of parliament.

Tibetan Buddhists believe the soul of a senior lama is reincarnated in the body of a child on his death.

But the exiled Tibetan spiritual leader has suggested he will not be reincarnated when he dies, prompting atheists of the Communist party to demand the tradition must continue.

The message was conveyed at a meeting on the sidelines of the China's National People's Congress in Beijing.

The head of Tibet's regional congress, Padma Choling, said that the Dalai Lama has to return, just as he has done for generations.

"Whether [the Dalai Lama] wants to cease reincarnation or not ... this decision is not up to him," Mr Padma said.

"When he became the 14th Dalai Lama, it was not his decision.

"He was chosen following a strict system dictated by religious rules and historical tradition and also with the approval of the central government.

"Can he decide when to stop reincarnating? That is impossible. What he wants is to distort reality. It's impossible in my view. Tibetan Buddhism follows tradition. If he goes ahead with this there will be division."

This debate has nothing to do with Buddhism and everything to do with power.

The Dalai Lama is just helping bring Buddhism into line with the coming one-world religion. Other groups have taken steps toward this in recent months.

Dalai Lama has said he will be the last reincarnation of the Dalai Lama so as to preclude the Chinese Communists from picking and grooming a pro-ChiCom Dalai Lama after the current one passes away.

The ChiComs have always been quite self contradictory in pronouncing religion to be false and atheism as their creed, yet simultaneously making religious pronouncements on what a religion may believe or is false in a religion.

Maybe. This also disempowers the captors of the Panchen Lama and their ability to control succession of power in Tibet.

The idea behind reincarnation is you come back again and again to learn from life, no?

Maybe he thinks he’s reached the last lesson.

We all knew that.

Actually no, it is possible, that is the basis of
Buddhist belief.

Experiencing the void, know it as thyself.

Reincarnation is a part of Buddhism. But the idea that the Tibetan leader should be a randomly picked child, was begun by the Mongols, who saw it as a way to weaken the Tibetan state. At its peak, Tibet was an independent state that wielded considerable military power, to the point that it destroyed several Chinese armies within the Chinese empire itself. After the Mongols conquered Tibet, they gelded the Tibetan state by introducing the practice of making a randomly-picked Dalai Lama the head honcho, in place of what used to be Tibetan kings. With no power base of his own, and no particular knowledge of statecraft (taught to crown princes practically after they were weaned), this nonentity was easy pickings for the strongest of Tibet’s neighbors, whether Mongol or Chinese.

Nah, it’s just a jab at the ChiCom leadership, by throwing a monkey wrench in their obvious intent to groom some kid as a loyal state apparatchik “Dalai Lama reincarnate”.

The ChiComs think they control everything. They issued an order that no Tibetan may be reincarnated without permission from the central PLAN government. I’m sure they would be happy to issue a decree that no Christian can have salvation without their permission.

I’ve had the displeasure of dealing with the ChiComm apes during Tiananmen Square back in 1989. Never have I met a more stupid class of morons than a ChiComm idiot. They had slope heads, they drooled and they couldn’t add two plus two. Meanwhile, their Chinese student charges were brilliant. They were smart, curious about their origins and fun to be with.

We set up safehouses across America after that fascist New World Order prick George HW Bush threatened to turn over the Chinese students here in America to the ChiComm apes.

I’ll always hate that prick.
