Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) on Wednesday praised the Republican senators who declined to sign a controversial open letter to Iran.
"I'm heartened ... that a few Republicans, seven to be exact, didn't sign the letter. That's nice. Seven out of 54, certainly seven better than nothing," Reid said from the Senate floor.
The open letter, signed by 47 Senate Republicans, states that any deal reached on Iran's nuclear program could be overturned with the stroke of a pen after President Obama leaves the White House in 2017.
Republican Sens. Bob Corker (Tenn.), Susan Collins (Maine), Jeff Flake (Ariz.), Dan Coats (Ind.), Lamar Alexander (Tenn.), Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) and Thad Cochran (Miss.) did not sign the letter, and several of them have criticized it as inappropriate.
Democrats and the White House have slammed the 47 Republican senators who signed the letter, saying they are threatening to undermine the United States bargaining in the negotiations over Iran's nuclear program.

He would be.
McCain must’ve been out sick; normally he rushes headlong to join this group of democrats. Maybe he didn’t want to blow his cover as the Democrat/NVA mole.
Cochran might have signed but they wouldn’t let him make an “X” with his purple crayon so he took a nap instead.
‘Ol Thad Cochran. Did they wheel him in on a hand truck?
One story I heard on cable is that Corker (Tenn.) and some of the others opposed the letter because they want to get some Senate Dems to sign on to a bill negating this agreement to try to over-ride a Obama veto, that the letter just gets Senate Dems to all side with Obama in which case a veto goes unchallenged .
Just a theory.
After hearing him, I decided that he was the voice of the Dem party, that this gave him face time, and I predict he will be the Dem Nominee.
I never bought that override theory. The democrats care more about protecting Obama than getting their bill passed.
In my view, it’s just another trick by a moderate republican (allied with the democrats) to convince conservatives to not EVER rock any boat.
I am surprised he is not on the list as well as Lindsey Graham.
Seven who need to be primaried and removed from office.
I am sick of all those bastard left right middle back in dc
I wonder if his grand children will be “heartened” when Iran has nuclear weapons...
Tennessee needs to reform their primary system first...it is currently designed to weed out conservatives during the primaries so that conservative voters are stuck choosing between democrat and democrat-lite manure like Alexander and Corker. They do NOT represent the conservatives in Tennessee...
What’s the problem? These Senators just informed Iran of our Laws.........oh wait, laws don’t matter to most Dems anymore.
Perfect! LOL!
Was this the same Harry Reid who said, in the middle of OIF, said the President was a “loser” and that “the war was lost?”
that Harry Reid?
The usual USEFUL IDIOTS!!! FLAKE is a FLAKE!!!
Yeah, good point.
For the first time in my life I am ashamed to have been born in Tennessee.
