He was against doing it at that time. He didn’t want more controversy as his campaign ramped up.
He said he wished they wouldn’t bring it up, but if they passed it, he’d sign it.
So yes, he was not wanting them to do it now.
There is no better time to do it with an overwhelmingly strong assembly and a couple seat majority in the senate. ANd he says he doesn’t want this being done at that time.
So that is the honest assessment of what happened. He did sign it like he said, and I am glad he did. But the backstory is the backstory and I am not sugarcoating it for anyone.
we have to be honest about what goes on with our people. Warts and all. I still like him, I can understand why he thins that was the right move, but I am not a shill or running cover for anyone.
