A Nevada couple were denied their request to serve as foster parents because they have permits to carry guns.

Brian and Valerie Wilson, of Las Vegas, told “Fox & Friends” Sunday that they have always planned to become foster parents and eventually adopt, but have been denied permission to do so because of a state regulation that prohibits the carrying of loaded weapons with foster children.

“I really want a family,” said Valerie Wilson. “It really is heartbreaking because these kids are in institutionalized homes; they aren’t getting the families that they deserve,” she told “Fox & Friends.”

“It’s heartbreaking that they’re not getting the home they deserve,” she said.

“It just doesn’t make sense,” Brian Wilson added. “We’re talking about law-abiding people, people who have had background checks.

“We’re not talking about leaving a firearm around the house,” he said.

So now if you want to be a foster parent, you can't exercise your 2nd Amendment rights?

How about in the near future if you decide to have biological children?

They should be moved to the front of the line for being good protectors.

Is this for real?

But of course it's OK if you're queer, cuz everone knows that children are completely safe when alone with homosexuals.

This is a joke, right?

Lawsuit bait....

Discriminated against for the free exercise of their Constitutional rights?

Should make some lawyer a nice, fat, paycheck.

This is a violation of their right. Just to think that perverts are preferred over normal parents. Shameful.

If they were a gay couple with permits, they would be able to foster a child.

I dont know the particulars but it does sound to me that there are enough grounds here to file a federal lawsuit under title 42 section 1983 Civil action for deprivation of rights

That’s right; if these people have a gun permit, who know what horrors they could subject those children to, why, they might even take them to church!

Unfortunately. Completely Constitutional. It’s a privilege to be a foster parent. What’s worse, Nevada CPS, usually has a don’t ask, dont tell policy. Which places the burden on the foster parents breaking the law. Meaning plenty of trouble, IF something happens.

___________-

You have a constituionally protected right to own firearms, but you do not have the constitutionally protected right to be a foster parent. Now if they were trying to take kids out of their biological parents home for owning firearms, that would be a good case.

Involuntary abortions, of course. Just make OB doctors cross reference maternity patients with carry permit databases.

Do you give up your rights to freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of assembly, etc.** when you are foster parents?

If not, why not?

**(note: I didn't list freedom from search or seizure as that one is now moot)
