A new poll showed on Friday that only 15 percent of Germans think Russia is a trustworthy partner in international affairs.

Meanwhile, 81 percent told pollsters in the latest ARD Deutschlandtrend survey that Russia was “not to be trusted”, Die Zeit reported on Friday.

Asked specifically about the Minsk ceasefire agreement for Ukraine, hammered out with President Vladimir Putin of Russia by Chancellor Angela Merkel and the leaders of France and Ukraine, only 13 percent of people thought it would lead to peace.

Reuters reported on Thursday that Russia will conduct large-scale military exercises expected to last over a month in disputed border territories, including the Crimean peninsula—a part of Ukraine annexed by Moscow last year. …

Considering the Germans’ and Russians’ history with each other, I’m honestly astounded it’s that high,.

No one with a brain.

The Russians, as a group, have never embraced civilization or civilized behavior. Any agreement with them is regarded by their side as "a pause while they are reloading" rather then any step toward peaceful coexistence.

Yes, the Russians and the Prussians/Germans do not like one another. Still considering that about 30% of the population was brainwashed under the old Soviet Union in East Germany - I think this is a promising result.

Someone should poll the Poles about how they trust or do not trust either nation!

One in 7? That high?

If there are two groups I expect Germans not to trust, they would be the Russians and the French.

Thanks to Obama, Poland’s foreign minister Grzegorz Schetyna called Poland’s alliance with the US “worthless”. They are being tugged between two old empires that should not have been allowed to rise again, and right now Poland is being forced to pick Germany.

Old joke..."A Polish soldier confronts a German and a Russian soldier, which does he shoot first? The German, of course, business before pleasure."

Commies and Nazis trust Russians. There are no Nazis in Bundestag, but there are 64 commies out of 631 representatives. Also Chancellor Gerhard Schröder fought for closing German nuclear power stations and building of North Stream pipeline by Gazprom. Few weeks after losing the elections he took a job sitting in Gazprom board.
