You know, when I was in high school (1972 graduation) I said that the ticket should be based on your income. But then I thought it through and realized that the cops would target nice cars to boost their city’s income.
It took less than a day for me to figure that out when I was 17. These guys must be really dumb, or socialist. But I repeat myself.
Coming to an America near you.
The USA isn’t far behind.
“Means Testing” is common here in the USA too - health-care, education, housing.
Hope King Putt doesn’t see this.
The public union employee union bosses where I worked in CA thought this was a great idea, not only for fines, but for property and sales tax. When I asked them about how they proposed to implement the sales tax, they said maybe everyone filing a State income tax return receives a card stating what rate they pay.
Pure insanity! But their reasons is higher wages and benefits including big pensions for the government employee ruling class.
It's called Socialism I believe.
Finnish citations like speeding are based on a percentage of income. That way they are as painful for the rich as they are for poor.
Makes a certain sort of sense.
[[In Finland, traffic violation fees are on a sliding-scale basis, according to the seriousness of the traffic offense and how much the offender makes.]]
Shhhhhhhhhh!!! Don’t; let democrats and GOPE get wind of this news- they are already running out of ways to steal our money- they get wind of this and will think it’s brilliant
Switzerland has the option of giving fines like this for repeat offenders.
” After perusing his 2013 tax return, he was issued a ticket for almost $60,000. “
So.... are they required to keep their tax returns in their glove box ?
“From each according to their ability, to each according to their need.”
the idea behind a fine on a ticket is to get the person that is breaking the law to stop. I have no problem with a sliding scale on tickets and punishments with in policing of society. if you are making a million a year a 250 dollar ticket is mot enough to get you to keep with in the speed limit. if you up it to 5,000 dollars and you are going to think twice before you ignore the speed limit. I have never gotten a speeding ticket in my life because 250 dollar ticket is devastating to me financially because I don’t have that type of money to spare. I also have only gotten one or two parking enforcement tickets for that reason. I live in California and in this state the wealthy Hollywood crowd is notorious for ignoring a law and just paying the fine figuring that it is the cost of doing business
What’s the point of a fine if it doesn’t hurt?
