Is the entire NFL responsible for the misconduct of one team?
There is a boatload of case law on this issue.
Doesn’t sound like you know much about franchises.
Academics should be banned from teaching business and from any government job that has anything remotely to do with business, finance or economics.
They are also buying the use of the franchisor's brand. And it's therefore in the franchisor's interest to keep tabs on the franchisees and make sure they don't screw up and tarnish the brand. But in no way does that make the franchisor the employer of the franchisee's employees! Sheesh!
“Progressives HATE small businesses. A few large corporations are easier to control.”
This is the end game. Spot on FReeper.
You talk about franchised small businesses like you talk about AR-15’s, and just about every other subject I’ve seen you jabber about since you join here.
From the franchisor’s perspective, the franchisee is a source of both capital investment and managerial talent. Or should be. In many fields, after a few years the franchisee begins to suffer severely from “What have you done for me lately?” syndrome.
McDonalds business model is real estate, not burgers. They own the land the franchise is on. Making them responsible for the employee structure will probably screw it up enough right nicely for the progressives...
I don’t think he meant financially. When I do subcontractor work or hire a subcontractor there are standards that differentiate subs from employees. Franchises are told when to open, what equipment to use, how to finish and furnish their stores and so on. I’m not taking a side or giving an opinion so save all the crazy comments everyone. I’m just observing how franchises live in two worlds.
