The rest of Europe has imposed a burden on Greece that could never be borne for any length of time.
I will interpret what Tony Blair is saying because he is speaking bureaucratese:
"It is most necessary for Germans must keep working long into their 70s so that Greeks can continue to live off the dole and retire at age 50.
Poppycock! Let the Greeks go and court the failed State of Russia. Then again, Cuba may be able to tell them ahead of time how much the rubble helped them...

Europe as an entity and as an ideal is more needed than ever. Europe was never an entity. And I don't know what the "ideal" of Europe would be. If European civilization hadn't committed suicide in two world wars, Europe might be worth something.

The “third” way between what? Communism and Capitalism? Europe hasn’t tried Capitalism in about 100 years so maybe its time to go back to the “first” way.
