ISIS is considered a major threat by the US and other countries for its terrorist tactics in occupying areas of Syria and Iraq. The group has been using social networks such as Twitter to spread its message and encourge followers to carry out attacks. In January, ISIS posted a video on Twitter urging followers to attack targets in the West, CBS News reported at the time.

Twitter's guidelines specifically bar users from posting content that calls for threats of violence against others. As such, the site has been busy removing ISIS accounts almost as soon as they pop up. But that has angered the group's members. In October, ISIS said that the management and employees of Twitter should be assassinated.

There’s no joke with this group. In all honesty, if something happened to Twitter execs or employees, it would be an historical turning point in this battle. It’s one thing when an obscure local newspaper gets attacked in France...it’s another when a worldwide brand would get terrorized. Too many people in the world are tied to it.

Surely, terrorists are smarter than that. How hard is it to tweet, “Cookies at the warehouse Tuesday at 4. Bring your own milk.” instead of “Big Boom Tuesday. Bring vest.”? Seems they’re biting the hand that could potentially feed them like FB and other outlets. But what do I know. I don’t tweet or FB.

You're right. It might actually wake the WH up.

I thought the WH was helping them create these accounts.

They are busy training the terrorists to carry out their threats.

Yeah, I can’t even guess if they’ll avoid a physical confrontation with such a big company, or if they’re truly fanatics who don’t understand how much the world loves Twitter. It’s OK to kill Christians and fellow Muslims because, really, “the world” now hates Christians and a few (3, 300, or 3000) dead Muslims can always be replaced.

Codes work fine when both sides have the code book. But when you are trying to rally random "lone wolves" into mounting attacks, you have to speak plainly.

“...if something happened to Twitter execs or employees, it would be an historical turning point in this battle.”

I keep thinking that this or that atrocity will be the turning point that will WAKE PEOPLE UP, esp. including Obama, et al. But nothing yet seems to have done it.

Bush missed the cue with all that religion of peace bs after 9/11.

Theo Van Gogh, Mumbai, the mall in Africa, the Jordanian pilot, the British solider beheaded in broad daylight, I thought all these things would turn the tide.

But nothing has.

I dread to think what it will take to do it. And I’m sorry to say I doubt the murder of the founder of Twitter, or even the entire staff of Twitter would be sufficient (may God protect them all).

With the Nazis it took the invasion of Poland, perhaps if these schmucks invaded Lebanon or another intact Middle East nation (other than Israel) that would do it, but I’m not sure at all.

If they kill Twitter executives and employees, who do they think is going to run Twitter? If they like the service so much, then destroying it is a bit counterproductive. But logic has never been their strong suit.
