I guess that's why they are calling it climate change rather than global warming.

“Global warming, global cooling, climate change.” No matter what you call it, it’s still nothing but anti-capitalist, communist bull****.

According to Al Gore, the north pole ice cap was supposed to have disappeared years ago and the water was to have been so warm that you could swim from Canada to Russia wearing nothing but your birthday suit.

After this winter, I think we all could use a little global warming.
Who said it was bad, anyways? I read that a degree or so warming actually helps most climates - to the benefit of mankind.
Didn’t Gore say Manhattan would be underwater by now?

Here’s the latest plot:
http://coastwatch.glerl.noaa.gov/glsea/cur/glsea_cur.png
It’s actually gone down slightly from yesterday’s 88.8%. What they’re not telling you, though, is that the method of calculating coverage is quite different from the plots we were seeing last year. This year they’re showing areas that were 100% covered last year as being not fully covered this year. This is why there are different shades of gray (50?). I bet that there is more ice than last year if last year’s method were used.

Currently there is freighter stuck on Lake Erie in 6 feet of ice, the SS Anderson. The Bristol Bay was sent to help free the freighter, but it can only break up to 4 feet of ice.

There is a periodicity to climate change that is disturbingly regular and we are at the end of the interglacial part. Time to throw another log on the fire.

Lake Superior never completely thawed, from LAST winter, did it? There were ice floes WAY late in the season.
Lake Eire has so completely frozen, that even large jet airplanes could use it for an emergency landing field. Not that there would not be a LOT of ‘splainin’ to do with the FAA, but from an engineering standpoint, it is feasible.

My old man is a Tin Can Sailor and was on the Warrington (DD-843). I passed that on to him. Thanks for posting it.
