If the government is in charge: costs will go up, inefficiency will reign supreme, and it will be worse than ever.

Here’s something that I’m trusting WILL CHANGE as a result of this. I’ll just give you the example from my own personal details, so you know what I’m talking about.

I currently pay for 150 Mbps down and 20 Mbps up for Internet service at $100 a month. And I get Netflix, and they currently pay for their Internet service (both speed and capacity) for all the customers they are streaming to. I can’t tell you their cost on that, because I’m not privy to it. I would imagine that they’re paying one heck of a bill, but that’s their business and they DO HAVE TO pay for the service to have each of their customers access it at the right speed and for the capacity to serve all their customers.

So far, so good. That’s the way it’s supposed to be. I pay for my access at whatever level I want and need (some pay a lot less for less capacity and speed, but that’s their choice). And Netflix pays for their service and what they need.

Each of us pay for increasing levels of service at an increasing price ... which again ... is the way it should be and the way it is.

AND ... I will note that my 100 Mbps down is WAY OVER NECESSARY SPEED AND CAPACITY to get the Netflix movies. One only needs about 15 Mbps down to do that at HIGH RESOLUTION and it will work fine. I have IN EXCESS ... about 135 Mbps ... that is just idle and available if necessary!

NOW ... here is what I am confident will be DECLARED ILLEGAL by this action at the FCC. It is the “THIRD CHARGE” being levied, in which a telecommunications company attempts to “hold their customers hostage” to force Netflix to PAY THEM MORE, or elese their own customers at that telecommunications company won’t get the service, even when they have PAID FULLY FOR THE SERVICE!

This is what Comcast did with Netflix in which they made it so that their OWN CUSTOMERS could not get Netflix without having problems. It didn’t matter if the customer PAID FULLY for 150 Mbps down for a 15 Mbps movie, Comcast THROTTLED IT to make sure that their own customers at Comcast would COMPLAIN TO NETFLIX!!

SO ... what Netflix ended up being EXTORTED TO DO by Comcast is paying several millions of dollars to get a “special deal” in which Comcast would take off the THROTTLING of their own customers (never mind they paid fully for the full capacity of their own accounts) and they created a SPEED LANE for Netflix.

The day after Netflix PAYS THE EXTORTION all the customers of Comcast got their movies without any problem ... LOL ...

NOW ... “THAT” is what will be ILLEGAL ... namely those THIRD CHARGES (beyond what Netflix already paid for full access and speed and beyond what the customer paid for full access and speed) ... and it will make THROTTLING ILLEGAL and it will make SPEED LANES ILLEGAL!

And for that, I say ... Good for them! ... :-) ...

The day after Netflix signs the deal. Obviously all someone had to do there was "flip a switch" ... LOL ...

That's how a telecommunications company can EXTORT money, using their OWN CUSTONERS as hostages, even though those customers have paid fully for a service that exceeds this speed and capacity, by THROTTLING and then creating a SPEED LANE!

I notice that automakers actively discriminate against certain customers. I went to a Mercedes dealer and told them that I had been offered the opportunity to buy a used Honda Accord for $19,000, but I wanted a new Mercedes for $19,000, instead.

They actively discriminated against me!

All automakers should be forced to sell cars for the same price!

The Feral (sic) Government’s track record is clear. Name one agency that it has taken over where the agency has become more efficient, reduced costs and succeeded at its mission, and most important—not grown year over year. One, JUST ONE!! The EPA? The “Energy Dept?” The “Education Dept?” Obamacare? The “Agriculture Dept?” The federal goons are not in this to make it better; the feds are here to control it and provide federal bureaucrats a lifetime job and pension. This must stop. Time to stop sending a dollar to D.C. to get 10 cents or nothing in return, This must stop. Time for a second American Revolution.

Net-Neutrality has liars on all sides. What we all want is cheap unfettered access to the web. And we want others to have the same. So, new companies have the same rights as big companies. So Foxnews.com can’t pay for better service than Freerepublic.com.

But the government and the cable companies want control. Both tell the truth when it comes to the fears of the other getting control. The government does want to spy and tax. The cable companies want to charge dot.coms for access, getting paid on both sides like a newspaper charges the reader and the advertiser.

As consumers we have good reason to fear both sides. Neither can be trusted. As freepers we should not be clearly on one side or the other. Comcast, the owner of MSNBC should not be able to select winners and losers on the Web. And the government should not be able to hide taxes in our internet bills like they do with the phone bills. The internet is cutting into the money governments made on phone bill taxes.

This issue is like the keystone pipeline. Both are fights between big business and big government. We should not take sides when two thieves are fighting over which one has the right to rob us.

Remember there is nothing free market about the web. Comcast pays a license to local governments for the right to sell us cable and the internet. The Internet comes to us because the government forces the phone/cable companies to provide the service.

There was compuserve in the old days. If you want to complain about something you should complain about compuserve being put out of business by the internet. You paid for the service. Then you paid the phone company for the phone call at around $.25 a minute.

And Comcast is run by very liberal democrats who give to the democrat party like George Soros. As republicans, we have no dog in this fight.

Worse than Obamacare.

Why shouldn’t ISP’s charge more for companies that use more bandwith? Why should every bit be treated the same? Somebody has to pay and it should be Netflix customers like Star Traveler not the rest of us that don’t use Netflix.

It’s amazing, they put the thumb of government on the internet for their entertainment.

The internet was not broken.

As for porn access to children, Obama FCC in charge is like a pedophile in charge of dress code feelings at a high school.
