By far my favorite Trek character. A brilliant invention of Gene Rodenberry, brought to life by Leonard Nimoy. But let's not forget his one-man show of Vincent Van Gogh and his unique voiceovers and narrations.
Truly a show-business icon, and a black day for sci-fi fans.

They will bring him back, they always do. My concern is that they'll use Zachary Quinto as a stand-in for Spock like they did with Hayden Christensen for Anakin in the "reboot" Star Wars classics.

Rest in peace, Mr. Spock.
And Mr. Nimoy, thanks for entertaining my eternally Trekkie husband his whole life.

I grew up on Star Trek reruns in the 80s. It helped mold my sci-fi and technology mind I I what I am today as an IT engineer. I’ll always cherish Spock, and his rendition of “If I Had A Hammer”.

I hope Mr. Nemoy rests in peace but, not being a Vulcan, I have mixed emotions about the whole “Star Trek” culture of progressive humanism.
“They worshiped and served created things... and because of this, God gave them over.”

When the Technocratic State-establishment becomes an object of worship, the enterprise’s multicultural poo is headed for the wind tunnel, again.

Sad day for us Trekkers and Trekkies. I can remember when Trek was on in Prime Time it was an event at our house. Friends from the neighborhood come over to watch, adults and kids. We were one of the few who had a color TV.
Then when I entered my high school years it became very popular as a syndicated show. My friends would all come to the house after school to watch on cable.

The days of "live long and prosper" have come to an end.
>>>In his autobiography I Am Not Spock, Nimoy wrote that he based it on the Priestly Blessing performed by Jewish Kohanim with both hands, thumb to thumb in this same position, representing the Hebrew letter Shin (ש), which has three upward strokes similar to the position of the thumb and fingers in the salute. The letter Shin here stands for El Shaddai, meaning "Almighty (God)". Nimoy wrote that when he was a child, his grandfather took him to an Orthodox synagogue. There he saw the blessing performed and was impressed by it.[1]<<<
Vulcan Salute
When the blessing of Abraham -- or nationhood -- is passed on, the name of God invoked is Shadai.<<
We see a pattern developing. When God blesses the patriarchs with many descendants, the name of God employed is Shadai. We should also note that the passages cited above constitute the only usage of this Divine Name until this point in the Torah.<<

One’s religion won't have any bearing on how we fare in the spiritual aferlife. If you've ever read any books detailing the experiences of those who died and were brought back to life, one’s religion was never brought up.

I think it safe to say, we all grew up with Star Trek, in its origin and the various spinoffs.
And I think it safe to say, in his own language:
Mene sakhet ur seveh, Spock cha'Sarek.

I do not know if you are old enough to remember DeForest Kelley always playing the gad guy in cowboy movies and series. He was usually a second to the star bad guy. ;-)
