Its beginning to look like an all-out offensive by the Teamsters against the two largest education unions in Clark County.
Teamsters Local 14 has filed a public records request for the names, job classification and work location for members of the Clark County Education Association, the union representing the School Districts 17,000 teachers.
Teamsters Local 14 secretary-treasurer Larry Griffith confirmed the request was made but he wouldnt say anything more.
The move could be viewed as an organizing effort by the Teamsters to represent the districts teachers, labor law experts said.
The Teamsters are in the midst of a fight to take over as the bargaining representative for the districts 11,000 support staff now represented by the Education Support Employees Association, which is connected to the CCEA via the Nevada State Education Association. NSEA represents both unions at the state legislative level.
A CCEA spokeswoman declined comment when asked about the Teamsters move.
NSEA spokesman Nick Di Archangel said he didnt want to speculate on the Teamsters plans and therefore couldnt comment.
Certainly, if they win that (public records) request, it will become apparent, he said.

I worked for UPS for years. I know all I need to know about the Teamsters.
Good morning redreno. LV and 17k teachers in the union. What could possibly go wrong with indoctrinating the kids in Clark county? And now the teachers(?) and the teamsters are doing a little infighting? Guess the union bosses aren’t getting enough skim off the top. :>}
I do too in my job. Even one of the union stewards says they are the worst union he has ever been involved with.
Makes sense! The Teamsters Union has had Clark County by the balls for years. Particularly the Convention Center. As an exhibitor, you can’t even pick up a screwdriver in your own booth, and they have “multiple crafts” so you need five guys (plus an interpreter who speaks Spanish) to screw in a light bulb.
I don’t think Educators are going to be favorable to having Truck Drivers represent them.
They can be militant but they are NOT generally stupid
Having a Union Membership Card is equivalent to having a Communist Membership Card.
Union/Communist are not technically synonymous; but practically there is no difference.
