Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel will easily take first place in Tuesday’s municipal election, but polls show he may miss the 50 percent mark needed to avoid a run-off in the race to lead the financially challenged, third-largest U.S. city.

Emanuel, 55, a former adviser to President Barack Obama seeking a second term as mayor, has already spent millions of dollars in the non-partisan race against four challengers, and a second round will mean six more weeks of expensive campaigning.

Emanuel is close to the mark, getting 48.3 percent of the vote in a recent Ogden & Fry poll. His nearest opponent is Cook County Commissioner Jesus “Chuy” Garcia at 26.5 percent, followed by businessman Willie Wilson with 15.2 percent. …

I wonder if people in Chicago feel these last four years under Rahm have improved things in the city.

Is the city better off than four years ago?

Is there more or less crime and gang violence now?

Have Rahm and his administration improved the local economy and business climate?

How is Rahm doing on balancing the city budget?

Just wondering. I don’t live there anymore. But always wonder about what’s going on back in Chicago.

Sniffle

LET'S STROLL DOWN MEMORY LANE Rahm Emanuel is poor street urchin, who "accidentally" got into big-time Chicago Democrat politics --- w/ only 10 cents in his pocket, Rahm miraculously became a multi-millionaire overnight.

The Chicago mayoralty (and its--cough--"benefits") is a job poor Emanuel has coveted since he was a penniless Democrat machine go-fer back in the 1980s.....before he became Bill Clinton's national campaign finance chairman and served a dual role as (1) Clinton's senior White House aide, AND, (2) a Goldman Sachs lobbyist.

After Rahm "accidentally" became a multi-millionaire, thanks to a measly few months at a Wall Street investment firm......he decided to run for Congress (was there for four terms).

Hard-scrabble Rahm's accidental stumble into politics culminated in Rahm picked as (1) Obama's White House chief of staff .... and a dual role as (2) Obama's hand-picked man at Treasury with an unarticulated "job description."

Later, when he left the WH--penniless, of course---Rahm held a presser declaring he "just remembered" he really, Really wanted to be Mayor of Chicago.

Then Rahm happily announced he had "accidentally" raised $10 million for his campaign "in just a matter of weeks." Seems the poverty-stricken bugger had "accidentally wired" federal tax dollars offshore at the time he was in a dual role as Obama's COS AND in charge of the entire US Treasury.

Sob.

Rahm Emanuel takes over Chicago / May 16, 2011, LA Times

EDITED EXCERPT .... an exciting time in the inbred world of Chicago Democratic politics.... Democratic don, Richard M. Daley ruled for 22 years, inheriting the mayoralty from his father, Mayor Richard J. Daley who held on for a generation. Now the ex-chief of staff of Chicagoan Barack Obama (once a state Senator, now president) was installed. US Treasury Secy Tim Geithner was there, and so was Chicagoan David Axelrod, an O team player.

BTW, Mayor Daley's former chief of staff, Valerie Jarrett, hired Obama's ten-fiancé, Michelle, to work in Chicago City Hall. Jarret is now ensconced as Obama's chief policy advisor. In Chicago gangland parlance, Valerie's WH title "chief policy advisor" means "wire-transfer artist".

Mayor Emanuel's innovative ways commenced early on---his organization was getting $50G's for the best seats at the inauguration (mmmm........that accounts for another couple million scammed from Treasury).

The mayoralty (and its--cough--"benefits") is a job Emanuel has coveted since he was a machine go-fer back in the 1980s.....before he became Bill Clinton's national campaign finance chairman and then a dual role as senior White House aide and Goldman Sachs lobbyist and then (gasp) becoming a multi-millionaire, thanks to a measly few months at a local investment firm...then a (gag) Congressman for four terms---then White House chief of staff for Obama that helped create the 2010 Republican House landslide.

And let's not forget Rahmbo's brothers: Dr Zeke---the lamebrain behind the Obamacare monster. And this bro---the reason why Rahbo got a reality show...his bigshot Hollywood brother, Ari, described as “the pre-eminent power player” in Hollywood.

Here they are on the cover of their memoirs.
Ari on the left is a Hollyweird bigwig.
I think Mayor Rah is standing on a box (to look taller).

Dont bother to buy the book---it's all about their greatness.
How they came from (gag) nothing to become power players.

(Snort) Ex-Cong Eric Cantor commented: "I'm sure Rahm can't lose."

Emanuel’s name recognition comes w/ mega-spending and mega-fundraising. Since leaving the White House as Obama’s chief of staff in 2010, Emanuel raised about $30 million in just weeks to finance his run for Mayor----and he's spending $15 million alone for his re-election—an eye-popping four times as much as the total of his four challengers combined. And Emanuel is spending freely, nearly $7 million to monopolize the airwaves with ads—----4,600 of them since November.

==========================================================

THE KINGPINS OF CHICAGO CRIMINAL POLITICS IN OUR WH wasted no time.....they had a stranglehold on the Census (AND US Treasury) from day one.

The minute Obama/Valerie/Rahm/Axelrod/Geithner, and that diseased bunch of criminals, landed in the WH they did two things that were apparently crucial to their evil plans

(a) they took control of the US Census;

(b) Obama placed his COS Rahm Emanuel in control of the US Dept of the Treasury (cabinet-level agency oversees IRS).

THE SMOKING GUN---WSJ REPORT--On Jan 20, 2009 Timothy Geithner was appointed Obama's Secy of the Treasury. But within three weeks, the Obama White House tightened its grip on Treasury. Obama put his COS, Rahm Emanuel, in charge of Treasury---Rahm Emanuel's dual role was an unusual move.

When he got to Treasury, WH COS Rahm Emanuel was so involved in the inner workings of the Treasury that the phrase "Rahm wants it" had become an unofficial mantra among subservient govt staffers, prostrate in obeisance, scurrying to accede to Rahm's wishes, according to Treasury government officials. Reported by WSJ / 05/31/09

More here: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB124113406528875137.html

The connection between the IRS targeting and the WH's malevolent parasites at Treasury becomes clearer.

================================================

THIS MADE ME LAUGH OUT LOUD shortly after quitting his powerful WH job as Obama's COS, Rahm held a presser declaring he "just remembered" he really, Really wanted to be Mayor of Chicago. Then Rahm announced he had magically "raised" $30 million for his campaign in "just a matter of weeks." (waiting for hysterical laughter to die down).

Ya gotta wonder how much Wall Street Rahm wired offshore when Obama put him in charge of the entire US Treasury.

There’s got to be a minority running for mayor. rahm should immediately step aside and throw his support behind the most qualified minority candidate. This unbroken string of white mayors of a core democrat city is outrageous. By not supporting a minority candidate, some other people might consider rahm, and democrat voters to be a racist.

Chicago has had 2 Black Mayors already (Harold Washington & Eugene Sawyer) back in the ‘80s.
