Actually, it takes Islam about 100 years to totally crush a society, and some of the places the Arabs swamped (such as Persia) were much more advanced, both artistically and scientifically, than the Arabs, who were the cavemen of the ME. Mohammed was from an Arab tribe that made its living by attacking merchant camel trains coming from Asia and other parts to bring goods to Persia, Baghdad, etc.
The artistic tradition of these places would hold on for as long as possible, but eventually it would be crushed by Islamic hatred of art and music. This happened everywhere that Islam went.
Afghanistan was once upon a time the crossroads of the mediaeval world, and had a lively artistic tradition of its own, a large Jewish merchant population, a Hindu/Buddhist influence from India, and occasional European Christians and their influence. Islam stamped out all of that as it tightened its grip.
“The Prophet” turned to dust centuries ago.
