Maybe we should defund Homeland Security after all

The Department of Homeland Security is up to its old tricks, warning police departments across the country of the threat of "right wing" terrorism.

DHS points out that there have been 24 attacks by the sovereign citizen extremists since 2010, some of them deadly. But just who is a "sovereign citizen"? The definition used by DHS could sweep up a lot of people who hold relatively mainstream views on government power.

CNN:

Mark Potok, senior fellow at the Southern Poverty Law Center, said that by some estimates, there are as many as 300,000 people involved in some way with sovereign citizen extremism. Perhaps 100,000 people form a core of the movement, he said.

The federal government's focus on the domestic groups waxes and wanes, Potok said, in part because the threat from foreign groups like al Qaeda and its affiliates.

Potok says sovereign citizen groups have attracted support because of poor economic conditions. Some groups travel the country pitching their ideology as a way to help homeowners escape foreclosure or get out of debt, by simply ignoring the courts and bankruptcy law.

The Homeland Security report's focus on right-wing terrorists is a subject that garnered political controversy for the Obama administration in the past. In 2009, a Homeland Security report on possible recruitment of military veterans by right-wing militia groups prompted an outcry from veterans groups.

The report was produced by staff members during the Bush administration but wasn't published until then Homeland Security Janet Napolitano had taken office. Napolitano criticized her own agency for the report.

Typical scare tactics, scare people into believing that they need to be controlled by the Government. Homeland Security is an over reach on peoples rights. We se it in the Airports, we are seeing it on the streets. Big Brother getting bigger every day

They have the manpower of the USMC, twice the budget, a creepy Nazi sounding name that ensures they are squarely aimed at the US populace.
They are Bush’s worst legacy and totally un-American as a concept.

Defund, and repeal their creation.

“Maybe we should defund 80% of what the feds do.”

Exactly.

DEFUND it.

6. But the grand nostrum will be a public debt…

7. It must not be forgotten that the members of the legislative body are to have a deep stake in the game. This is an essential point, and happily is attended with no difficulty. A sufficient number, properly disposed, can alternately legislate and speculate, and speculate and legislate, and buy and sell, and sell and buy, until a due portion of the property of their constituents has passed into their hands to give them an interest against their constituents, and to ensure the part they are to act.

8. The ways in which a great debt, so constituted and applied, will contribute to the ultimate end in view are both numerous and obvious. (1) The favorite few, thus possessed of it, whether within or without the government, will feel the staunchest fealty to it, and will go through thick and thin to support it in all its oppressions and usurpations. (2) Their money will give them consequence and influence, even among those who have been tricked out of it.

9. The management of a great funded debt and a extensive system of taxes will afford a plea, not to be neglected, for establishment of a great incorporated bank. the use of such a machine is well understood. If the Constitution, according to its fair meaning, should not authorize it, so much the better. Push it through by a forced meaning and you will get in the bargain an admirable precedent for future misconstructions.

11. As soon as sufficient progress in the intended change shall have been made, and the public mind duly prepared according to the rules already laid down, it will be proper to venture on another and a bolder step toward a removal of the constitutional landmarks.

Saw a couple of the Homeland Security Police last week at the airport. They looked like slobs. Unprofessional, scruffy, unlcean lookin. Except for the Homeland Security Police T shirts they almost looked like they were headed to the local dive bar on a Saturday afternoon. Not the kind of people I would trust with a gun around the public.

I have seen some of Homeland Security folks before. types before. Homeland Security is not hiring the brightest bulbs in the box. They want them to do what they are told and not think for themselves or question anything.

Yeah, that's worrisome. Reminds me of the CT police story a few years ago. Candidates for the police force had to take an IQ test, and if you scored too high, you were not accepted.

They want mindless thugs who will round up citizens and put us into camps when the order comes down. The authorities don't want those orders questions -- they need them obeyed, no matter what.

A better way is to split DHS apart, keeping, in a much reduced way, those parts we need to keep, such as the CPB; granted that the CPB needs to return to policing the borders, not a 50 mile enforcement zone inside the US.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Department_of_Homeland_Security#Structure

The TSA needs to be privatized to the airports and airlines, with the insistence that it will only enforce security measures that need securing, not the farcical and ritualized nonsense done today.

An important part of this is that the government must give them the latitude to profile likely suspects, even if that means lumping Muslims together with the mentally ill, drunks and drug users. The three groups that cause 99.99% of the problems.

There is NO relationship today between the US civil rights abuses of the 1960s and modern security needs.

Finally, there needs to be a restructuring of government of the 17 Intelligence Agencies and the over 100 federal police agencies; as well as those non-police and non-intelligence agencies that have been granted police powers and weaponry.

These people need to be made to understand that in America the govt conforms to the will of the people---not the other way around.

We should defund Homeland Security ASAP ---b/c Secy Jeh Johnson is running DHS as a criminal enterprise. Johnson apparently assumes he and Obama have the authority to nullify federal laws that don't serve their personal agenda.

OBAMA GOVT THREATENS US CITIZENS: DHS Secy Jeh Johnson used his govt office to issue threats that would undermine US ntl security and endanger US citizens----Johnson said if Congress didn’t send President Obama the DHS funding bill that he wanted (rubber-stamping executive amnesty), federal grants allocated to local and state public safety agencies by law would not be delivered –.

=================================================

REFERENCE Sheriff Justin Smith, Larimer County Colorado's Facebook post responded to, what he considers, are "veiled threats" issued from the govt office of DHS' Jeh Johnson to all police chiefs and sheriffs around the country.

MEMO TO L/E UNDER DHS THREATS: Sheriff Justin Smith and nationwide L/E, police chiefs and sheriffs due federal grants need to act now:

The Bank Secrecy Act must be mobilized----to follow the paper trail and determine how DHS govt monies changes hands; to determine the scope and dimension of collusion in sub rosa deals (and who might be personally profiting).

<><> L/E needs to examine DHS and its related agencies' bank accounts.

<><> Joint bank accounts might be used to facilitate the transfer funds from one account to another, and/or wire- transferred offshore;

<><> To cover their tracks, DHS insiders might create fake invoices to show that govt money deposited into accounts was being used for legitimate and constitutional purposes.

<><> Financial schemes scheme might be advanced by issuing phony statements of payments from financial sources that actually covered the transfer of funds for insiders' personal use and/or for redistribution schemes.

Homeland Security?? What a farce, they have done nothing to secure our borders and continue harassing little old ladies instead of profiling for terrorists. Unpoliticize the CIA and FBI and let them do the job and disband Homeland security.

“DHS has no clue when it comes to the difference between violent extremists and those passionate about changing the way government works. We simply can’t trust them.”

I do disagree with this mindset, The Government is just a huge self serving group of bureaucrats, Their goal and function is not that which has the Individual Rights of each citizen in mind but truly their own survival and in such those who wish to bring government down to be the Servant and not the Master of its citizens is a Real and Larger Threat to the Beast. That Mindset brought froth from the collective bureaucrat consciousness is in Fear of those who do Know what it has become and how to Stop it!

Oh and the DHS should be dismantled, Do we not have the CIA, NSA... for Threats foreign? Do we not have the FBI and Local Police forces for Threats Domestic? The DHS was only suppose to be a way of sharing INFORMATION on FOREIGN Threats... They have FAILED overall and anything they do to share information does not Require a Whole department of Government, Rework the other departments so they can SHARE info... Yes it is this Simple!

Return to God and the Founding Principles of a Small Government and a Moral People!

The Enemy is within and until we deal with that Enemy we will Never be able to Deal with the Enemy’s outside the Nation!

As I’ve stated ad nauseam, a DHS that is more concerned with tracking the regime’s political opposition than securing the borders SHOULD be defunded!

Which is why I've been suggesting for years that we learn about and locate THOSE WHO GIVE THE ORDERS. Who they are, who they answer to, where they live and work, their travel habits, their recreation. When they have forced us to the point of rebellion they are the primary targets. They should begin to have "accidents" or simply disappear.
