Cincinatus Wife said it best: Put forward your candidate, but DON'T spam other candidates threads with pretense, misdirection or exaggerations. I think she may favor Walker, like you I favor Cruz, I simply don't care for the tactics you are using, frankly I detest them, as most here ought to.

You have as yet to prove that what I have posted about Walker can be described by any of those adjectives.

They are his words and they are in context.

What I’m saying is that these were not “scripted responses”. They were guys thinking their way through a difficult subject. During the last campaign, I was a Perry supporter for a bit, and that meant supporting some kind of leniency toward those kids brought here by their parents. I think Perry wanted to give them scholarships or something.

Now, I’m still lenient toward those kids, but there needs to be some kind of date when that stops for this generation. We can’t continue using that excuse for a 100 years. It gets silly. Fix the problem.

In any case, was Perry a bad man for wanting them to go to college. No? Was he dumb for calling other conservatives ‘heartless’? For the most part.

But everyone was working through this problem during that campaign, and their guiding star was Ronald Reagan who had signed an amnesty bill only to be duped about the border security. In the real world, we have those who’ve been seriously hurt by illegals through crime, driving under the influence, drugs, death, and they rightfully are very hard on this subject. There is never any way to right that kind of wrong.

We have others who will say, ‘enforce the laws we have’. I’m one of those, but it doesn’t appear that that will happen. So we need to figure out where our line in the sand is. Mine is legal application in one’s own country for citizenship in the USA. Period. Any mass wave of the hand giving legality to an entire group of illegals is wrong to me. But, if an illegal wants to apply and gets accepted, then I don’t really have any heart burn with it, provided that ONLY anchor children get close to the head of the line. I’d probably backdate their date of entry to the US as their date of application....something like that. But not their parents.

So, do I reject Cruz because of his dumb support of the comprehensive immigration package back in 2013? Nope. Brand new senator and he was getting his feet on the ground.

Ping to CincyWife to #103

Entropy12: Check out #103 and read back through this thread. Some good thoughts on it.

I think we need to keep from making enemies out of allies and wait to see how these potential candidates state their policies.

I certainly know that Scott Walker has been busy battling the unions for quite a few years and that he isn't a border governor - so I am willing to wait and watch and learn.

I would also by law END the preference for immigration to family members of immigrants or those with work permits. Only in the case of a minor, would the parents receive special consideration, and that would apply only to the parents, to no more than 2 people and any other genetic siblings, determined by birth certificate and/or DNA.

A wise thing to do is imitate success. The most successful country on earth (every 6th citizen is a millionaire, which no other country can boast) allows foreigners to come and live there only if their skills are needed and they have a job offer. Those workers are given a 2 year work visa. When that visa expires, they must leave and re-apply for extension. Last year I personally witnessed the prosperity in Singapore by spending my vacation there.

What are the benefits of such system? First the government knows exactly who is there, where they live, where they work. At the end of 2 year work visa, government has flexibility to either award another 2 year visa or terminate it. The population remains stable and free from freeloaders.

In United States, one can sponsor any relative for a permanent resident visa. Whether they have skills needed or whether they can actually support themselves does not matter. Those immigrants without jobs end up getting full welfare benefits, and if over 65 age, they become eligible for supplemental social security benefit.

With 47 million on food stamps, and 95 million adults in working age range without jobs, we certainly do not need more unskilled immigrants. Sorry, if you have parents or siblings in home country, go visit them as often as you like.

On the other hand we should strive to extend work visa’s to skilled workers who can show proof of a job offer.

I don’t support continuing the anchor baby idea or the notion that relatives are automatically entitled to immigrate or that any immigrant should be eligible for welfare/social security until at least 15 years of paying into the system....tragic accidents being the exception.

At reply #15, I requested quotes of Cruz’s position on “amnesty”. You replied with: “Enforce the laws and the illegals will go home on their own JUST LIKE THEY GOT HERE on their own.”

Thanks for your reply - nobody else did so. The point I am trying to make is that Ted Cruz is not being held to the same high standard of Conservatism that Walker is being held to here on these political threads on FR. To illustrate, several links are posted as to what Gov. Walker has said about “immigration and amnesty”.

I googled:
https://www.google.com/#q=senator+ted+cruz+position+on+%22amnesty%22+of+illegal+immigrants

Nowhere in the multitude of Cruz quotes can I find a plan to get rid of the illegals already here beyond the vaporware your reply says above (please cite the source, I couldn’t find that particular quote). I don’t see a dime’s worth of difference between what Cruz has said about “amnesty” vs Wagner.

Cruz is a US Senator and an IDEAL Conservative one. Everything he’s done is superb at blocking 0bama’s and Reid’s moves to flood the voter rolls with democRats but he has no stated plan for getting rid of all the illegals already here.

I don’t blame Cruz for dodging the “amnesty” issue any more than Walker - it’s a political HOT POTATO. Cruz is also playing coy as has Walker about his political aspirations - neither has yet declared his candidacy for POTUS.

Cruz is far more valuable as our pit bull with a bark and a bite in the Senate anyway - he keeps the Rats and the RINOs under control better than anybody else in that animal farm. He’s a brilliant young Conservative patriot with a bright political future. So is Walker, plus Walker has shown he knows how to balance a budget and make a government run better with less.

Is it logical to assume that an illegal alien cannot repatriate themselves if left with no employment options?

Is there some kind of force field that holds people in the USA that won't allow them to broad and airplane or a bus home once there are here?

You sir are the type of idiot the country can ill afford.

They are his words and they are in context.

Xzins and others have explained to you that these "words" aren't in any kind of context, nor are they spoken as policy statements, nor are they something you can "prove" in any way fashion or form are what constitute his beliefs on illegal immigration. I posted a quote showing you, actually proving to you how wrong you were, but you continue to prevaricate and exaggerate.

You can continue to exaggerate on all these threads as you do to forward Cruz, and I reserve the right to correct you until you stop. You make a fool of yourself and your own candidate (who is also mine) when you do. If Cruz wins I would almost bet the farm he will select Walker as his veep, and it wouldn't surprise me at all to see Walker choose Cruz if he wins. For that reason alone you should stop your nonsense.

I will continue to add this for your benefit, my own former post, which is:

Put forward your candidate, but DON'T spam other candidates threads with pretense, misdirection or exaggerations. I think she may favor Walker, like you I favor Cruz, I simply don't care for the tactics you are using, frankly I detest them, as most here ought to.
