What’s NATO going to do when those frisky Kurds demand their own country, and a big chunk of it is now Turkey?

Turkey's lost...why don't we just admit it and push them over the side.

This is just another signal that Ankara is heading in a different direction. If Turkey has selected a missile defense system that is not compatible with NATO, then Turkey’s missile defenses are intended to face to the west and no longer eastward. Turkey is rejoining the radicalizing Islamic world; this new reality will shake Middle East overnight, and the long-term implications for NATO are ominous.

One wonders if the Turks realize what they really need is a missile defense AGAINST China, not FROM China...

Given the Turks stated this project will be paid for by ‘foreign financing’, leads me to believe China has filled the gap when the US shut down the ‘free money’. Sounds as though they’re getting it for nothing (or nearly so) and ‘offsets’ (always a big part of any deal with the Turks) will likely be large enough to fill the foreign bank accounts of Ergogan and his AKP pals. That’s always more important than if a system actually functions.

I hope that NATO can get a good look at the Chinese system and find all its weaknesses.

Turkey is planning on leaving NATO. That’s what this means.
