Rally for a Government that Works for America
youtube ^ | Feb 13, 2015 | The American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE)

AFGE is the nation’s largest federal employee union, representing 670,000 federal and D.C. government workers. More than 500 AFGE members who were in Washington for the union’s annual legislative conference attended the rally, joined by members of other government employee unions including the American Postal Workers Union, the National Association of Letter Carriers and the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees.

The numbers may be inflated. A friend of mine was working for the fedgov temporarily when he got out of the military, and even though he didn’t pay union dues and had no interest in the union, the union still claimed him as a coveree.

A government that works for America is one that is a lot smaller and isn’t unionized.

Anything else is just a different flavor of totalitarian leftism.

The numbers are correct, they are not inflated, but, they do not mean what you think they mean.

Just about every federal employee, except certain groups (supervisors, military, etc.) are, in fact, represented by AFGE. (The postal employees may have a separate union.)

Here’s the tricky part. You don’t have to join AFGE or pay dues to be ‘represented’ by them. Being represented is different than being a member. You are only a member if you join the union and agree to pay dues. Only members get to vote in union elections. The federal government ‘recognizes’ the union as the only group which can negotiate terms of employment. Terms of employment include stuff like work ours, number of bathrooms, etc, but do not include wages.

Depends upon the installation but often the majority of employees are not ‘members’.
