The content is (from what I hear since I would not give that book a 1 second glance) twisted and in opposition to God.

I haven’t read it and won’t see the movie. It doesn’t interest me.

Just YUCK, I thought, when I heard of it. Some of the movie reviews are talking about the ghastly writing, so I suspect I wouldn’t have made it past the first few pages even if I tried.

I couldn’t “Hunger Games” because I can’t stand first-person, present-tense narration in a book.

“I walk into the kitchen at 5:00 a.m. There is cold, slimy dishwater in the sink, and plates and cups are scattered on the counters. ‘My sons are pigs,’ I think to myself, as I start running hot water.”

LOL. Anyway, I can hardly read fiction at all anymore, although I used to read a book every couple days. These days, the real truth is so riveting, I will start a fiction book and then be confronted with the unlikelihood of the plot and give up.

I like mysteries, for fiction.

I’m currently reading a biography of Chopin, and fiction couldn’t be any more improbable than his real life!

Somewhere on this site there is a column by Dave Barry I think in the WaPo. It’s hysterical. Totally worth reading. He claims to be the only man in the country who has read it. My dad always said that the culture was going to be led by the women. I’m embarrassed for my sex. I remember having a case about ten years ago where the mom accused my client of going to porn sites and she showed up with print outs of them. We were ready and showed up with two or three of her romance books. When I was in my twenties I read a couple of these books. They are bad but actually not that bad. Ten years ago, they were what I would call soft porn. Evidently 50 shades is hard core porn and gets by because there are no photos. Sad. Anyway, I’m headed to Mass so someone find that thread on Dave Barry.

That’s my point. Truth is stranger than fiction, as they say. And easier to cope with. I guess people who deal straight have a harder time with fiction of all kinds, e.g. Benghazi “riots” caused by video.............

> The Left can endorse torture porn all it wants.

The rest of us are not obligated to follow suit.

Agree. The problem with the Left is they want to infect everyone to be like them as though they can’t stand opposition to their evil agendas. And that is precisely what their actions are - planned agendas to corrupt people or spread evil. Which leads one to correctly conclude that they are evil.

Wife and I saw it yesterday. I can honestly, open-mindedly and unbiasedly say it was terrible. And I'm not talking about the sex scenes which were standard, by-the-book 'R'-rated fare, nothing we haven't seen in the past 30 years. The film as a whole; acting, story, script, dialogue, characters was just awful.

The film will make a bunch of money this weekend, enough to finance the two planned sequels but I can't imagine many people leaving the theaters thinking they saw a great film. Come Tuesday when everyone is back to work, the buzz on this isn't going to be good. I predict a huge drop-off next weekend.

For me, the absolute highlight of the movie was seeing the trailer for Hot Tub Time Machine 2.

I laughed my head off. I may actually go see this one and not wait for Redbox.

As when you repress your desires to rape a woman? Rape is largely about the need to dominate.

The Bishop isn’t the only one warning against the movie.

Clyde Lewis got pretty upset over it the other night. He went into a fairly lengthy discussion on how it is a psy-op movie desensitizing people to BDSM. He even went so far out on a limb as to get into the explanation how BDSM has it’s roots in Satanic Sabbath ritual. The movie is trying to ‘normalize’ this type of ‘worship.’

Even to the point that the main character’s name is CHRISTIAN?

Spooky times we are living in.
