60 Minutes correspondent Bob Simon died Wednesday evening in a car accident in New York.
The CBS newsman was riding in a livery cab that struck another car and then crashed into a median on the West Side Highway, his network confirmed.
Simon, the recipient of 24 Emmy awards, began regularly contributing to the Sunday-night newsmagazine in 1996. He also was a correspondent for 60 Minutes II; when that series wrapped in 2005, he worked full-time on 60 Minutes.

Impossible because DeBlasio lowered the speed limit to 25 mph for all taxi and livery cabs which of course doesn’t make them drive 100 mph once they get on the highway to make up for lost time. Bill knows best.

I’m sorry to hear that he has died. In the middle of the Brian Williams scandal, we would all be better off if liberal propaganda died throughout the media and the liberal correspondents all went off to do organic gardening broadcasts until they are well into their 90’s.

NEVERMIND. I thought livery cabs were those horse drawn carriages. The article seems to state he was in a ‘car’.

I haven’t watched network “news” in many years. Heard the name Bob Simon and recognized the face slightly, but know very little about him

Not sure about the liberal part but that was a question I immediately thought of.
My friend’s son was killed in a similar crash in a limo going from a wedding to the reception. Also no seat belt.
Cabs are exempt from seat belt laws. Some people get in a cab and forget the laws of physics still apply. I always buckle up, whether it’s mandatory or not.
