The temporary respit from expensive gas was like giving a quick shot of air from your tank to your diving partner that has run out of air.

And now as the price of gas seems to be going up again, even THAT air is running down. I wonder what the next quick shot of air will be, or will there be one.

They have been kicking the can down the road for years, each time it goes less distance. Are we close to the day they kick it and it is immovable?

Oh man that is gonna be ugly in the “The bigger they are, the harder they fall” vein.

I said back when gas prices were lower, that it would give American’s a feel good feeling but it would be temporary.

The economy is creating jobs. Wages are rising. However, this is looking more like 2007 than 1984. Wages are still down from 2009 and this recovery still remains sluggish by historical standards.
If this poll is accurate, it may reflect the aftermath of BHO’s speech and his budget were it's clear he wants to spend more.

What the hell is “middle class economics?”

I think this country is like a tree that has been “girdled”. For those who don’t know the term it means to make a cut around the trunk of a tree just deep enough to penetrate through the inner bark all the way around. This allows sap to flow up through the inner tree to the leaves but does not allow the flow back down to the roots of the tree. A girdled tree will continue to grow above the cut for a season and maybe most of a second summer but it stops growing immediately below the cut. After a year or so the roots are dead and the whole tree dies and rots where it stands. I like to use the method on sweetgum trees that are in the way because it prevents shoots from appearing below the cut. If you just cut a sweetgum down it will produce a forest of shoots which develop into a cluster of young trees growing from the old stump, girdling prevents this. After the roots die you can cut the tree down and burn it without concern for new sprouts.
