Planned Parenthood president ready to work with (Gov.)Wolf

HARRISBURG — The president of Planned Parenthood pointed to the recent election of Gov. Tom Wolf as a good sign for advocates for women’s reproductive choice, calling Mr. Wolf “the first governor in the history of the country who was also a former Planned Parenthood clinic escort.”

Speaking Friday evening in Harrisburg, Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, was speaking at the Pennsylvania Progressive Summit in Harrisburg, a gathering of left-leaning activists and elected officials.

“It’s pretty darn exciting to see a state where you actually bucked the national trend,” she said to the crowd, referring to the November victory of Democrat Mr. Wolf over Republican incumbent Tom Corbett. Nationally, it was one of the few positives for Democrats electorally in 2014, as a number of other Republican governors were re-elected and Republicans took control of the U.S. Senate.

Mr. Corbett did not endear himself to women’s health groups during his time in office. In 2013, he signed a law that prohibits women from buying insurance coverage for abortion through the Affordable Care Act marketplace, and in 2011, he signed a law that added new regulatory burdens for abortion clinics in the state.

Abortion rights and women’s groups also frequently called attention to Mr. Corbett’s comments about a proposed ultrasound bill that if women didn't like it, they “just have to close your eyes.” Mr. Corbett later said his remarks were misinterpreted and were not intended to show support for the legislation.

More and more the Democratic Party becomes the instrument of the party of death.

No surprise here....Tom and Frances (Mrs. Tom) Wolf are lifelong financial supporters of PP.

It would be nice if the Republicans of Pennsylvania were as dedicated to the Pro-Life cause as the Wolf’s are to the other side.

Of course they are not. I’ve watched the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation glowingly endorse one GOP politician with bold letters PRO-LIFE who voted Pro-Life 57 percent of the time and in some cases they endorsed GOPe politicos never voted Pro-Life for anything.

I would venture a guess that a large number of pro-life people voted for Wolf for one reason or another. It’s too
bad and too late to complain. From his actions so far I believe we have our very own Obama right here in Pa. It’s going to be a very long four years.

I know people in BOTH my Roman Catholic parish AND a local Evangelical Christian Church (where I attend a weekly Bible study) who voted for Wolfie because “he’s a Democrat and for the poor.”

There is NO discussion with these people (who live in a working/middle class suburb). ANY Democrat is for the poor because they the line their grandparents/parents/former union bosses(former because most jobs are gone) fed them. Forever.

Stuff happens but do remember our Republican majority legislature also exists. They have power to give Wolf things he wants and deny Wolf things he wants.

IF THE GOP LEGISLATORS MAKE DEALS WITH WOLF THEN THEY SHOULD BE ENEMIES OF OURS, TOO........

When I see Wolf and Obama, I keep thinking of H.L. Mencken and George Carlin. Mencken often said, paraphrasing, that "no one has gone broke underestimating the intelligence of the American people." Carlin often said that we should not blame the politicians as much but puts the blame on the "idiots that vote for them."

Sad to say they use a lot of gimmicks as a substitution for issues. In Obama's case, it is because he is Black. I'm not afraid to say it, it is the truth. In Wolf-Wolf's case (he looks like the "wolf-wolf doll" Eddie Munster carried in the TV show, "The Munsters"), it's because he drives a jeep so "he must be one of us." My mother had him pegged when he slithered on the scene in 2013. As the cancer spread to her brain prior to her passing, she said that Wolf-Wolf "had beady eyes, can't trust him and that he is a Communist." She added that "he looks like Lenin with that beard." I live in Ohio now but work in PA.
