Americans views of President Barack Obama have improved slightly in the past two months, and opinions are more positive about the direction of the country and the health of the economy, an Associated Press-GfK poll finds.
A slim majority now approves of the way Obama is handling unemployment, according to the poll, conducted before Fridays release of a surprisingly strong jobs report.
Forty-seven percent of those surveyed approve of how Obama is doing his job, compared with 41 percent in December, and 51 percent approve of his handling of unemployment, compared with 44 percent before.
Nearly half say the economy is good now, while 41 percent thought that in December. In December 2013, only one-third called the economy good.
Approval of the way Obama is handling the economy improved slightly, 41 percent to 45 percent, over the past two months.

If the government isn’t counting the folks who dropped out of the workforce then I’m pretty sure no one polled them either.

If only 51% of the people were working, 51% would approve of how he’s handling unemployment.

I don’t think anyone could do a better job causing unemployment than Obama.

I’m from California, and my state is run by complete idiots.
While talking to a family member recently, we agreed that the state is in terrible shape. My family member tired to blame it on the Republicans in the state.
I mentioned that the Republicans have been the minority party in the state Legislature for the last 75 years or so. I mentioned that the Governor is a democrat.
They still think the Republicans have screwed up the state.
Go figure...

“nearly half say” ....(”nearly” now now = 45%)
as oppose to “less than half say”

Yes it does. If Obama is on the 8th fairway and not in the Oval Office thinking up policies to destroy the economy, unemployment will be handled by the private sector.

U6 Unemployment rate: What is U6 unemployment rate ? The U6 unemployment rate counts not only people without work seeking full-time employment (the more familiar U-3 rate), but also counts "marginally attached workers and those working part-time for economic reasons." Note that some of these part-time workers counted as employed by U-3 could be working as little as an hour a week. And the "marginally attached workers" include those who have gotten discouraged and stopped looking, but still want to work. The age considered for this calculation is 16 years and over
