This correction has circulated in conservative and pro-Israel circles, but doesn’t seem to have led to any followup, or any investigations by those who initially reported the opposite. If the correction is correct, then we have a situation in which the administration was so grossly incompetent that it was circulating false information about Netanyahu from multiple spokespeople, or that it intentionally sought to undermine Netanyahu by lying about his alleged “breach of protocol.” It’s also possible that the administration strongly objected when it was told of the invitation, but Netanyahu accepted anyway, but there has been no indication from the White House that this is the case.

UPDATE 2: Over at American Thinker, Ed Lasky notes: “In 2011, Boehner sent a notice to the WH stating his intention to invite Netanyahu to speak before a joint session of Congress. The White House never responded (spite? incompetence?) and Boehner proceeded to extend the invitation to Netanyahu. Netanyahu accepted the invitation and spoke. The White House did not express any outrage in 2011.” That’s further evidence that the White House created this particular controversy to undermine Netanyahu.

its not fair to make fun of a person’s appearance, after all.
i need to say something good about Obama. His ‘foreign policy’ has caused more muslim deaths that Hussein and Khaddafi together. He has spawned unrest or outright wars all across the middle east. At least give him that.
