I give him credit for doing it publicly. There was one situation where a guy was coming toward him with a knife. He “shot” the guy. He was asked when he saw the knife. He said “To be honest, I never saw the knife. He could have had a lollipop and I would have used force.”
This sounds like Will Smith’s shoot/don’t shoot scene from Men in Black.
