GOLDEN MOMENTS
Once upon a time, there was a little boy from "the wrong side of the tracks" who grew up admiring a beautiful house high on the hill overlooking his town. Fortunately, he never lacked for any of the necessities of life, but he hated being "poor." He noticed that people treated him differently, and it pained him to see his parents work so hard just to make ends meet. It just didn't seem right that some should be so favored and others should have so little. But his parents has instilled some rather clear "core values" in their son so that he grew up honest, persistent and a hard worker. All the while, the boy kept looking up at that big old house on the hill. He noticed that, when the sun came up each morning, the windows seemed to turn to gold. And after a while, that house came to symbolize all that he had missed by growing up a "disadvantaged child." (He heard his counselor at school describe him that way once.) So, year after year, he grew more and more determined. Someday, he resolved, he would own that house with windows of shining gold! And life would be good. After a while people began to take notice that the young man worked hard, learned quickly, and could be trusted with responsibility. They nodded their heads in approval, and reckoned that he would go far. Meanwhile, he just kept working... and looking up the hill.
Years passed. The boy grew to be a man. And those painful lessons of his youth, learned through years of sacrifice and self-denial, served him well. He developed a keen sense for business. And a heart of compassion for those less fortunate. He seized each new opportunity for advancement, saved his profits, and invested wisely. Before long, his ventures began to succeed beyond even his wildest imagination. And so it was that he finally realized his dream. He bought that house high on the hill. The one with the windows of shining gold he had admired so long. But a strange thing happened as he walked through his new home that first time. Oh, he wasn't disappointed. It was a beautiful house...perhaps even more than he had realized. The rooms were large, the furnishings he had chosen were magnificent, and the view was spectacular. But as he looked down the hill toward the town, it was late afternoon, and the sun had begun to set in the west. Suddenly he spotted his boyhood home. And every window was gleaming like the brightest gold! Can the destination be reached without the journey? Could this man have fully appreciated his status without the struggle? Or was that struggle really a "gift" in disguise, as much as health or opportunity or natural ability? Were there blessings he could have enjoyed all along? You decide. And what about our journey...yours and mine? What struggles have stimulated our growth and development? How has pain and hardship been part of a process to make us stronger or better or more open to God? Could that be part of the reason the Bible tells us to "give thanks in all things"? In his book, Invisible Lines of Connection, Rabbi Lawrence Kushner writes that, "The closer we are to what is happening, the more we believe we are in complete control. The farther away we get, the more we are willing to acknowledge the participation of something greater." May God guide us as we ponder, and discover His leading in our lives, and give thanks." CAPT J. David Atwater, CHC, USN

Good evening Kathy
(((HUGS)))
Had my “Right” eye Cataract Surgery and it went great, no problems at all. I was in and out within about two hours total time, most of the time was in “Prep” work and waiting my turn in the operating room. They started a small IV and put in the eye Drops, lost count at Ten. I did not need to disrobe just slipped on a “Smock” over my street clothes. I was awake during the procedure and did NOT feel anything, no discomfort at all. I was in Surgery for about twenty minutes, then back out to “recovery” slipped on my shoes and out the door.
I had to wear an eye patch for the first four hours after the Surgery. After that I started the eye drops and enjoyed my NEW eyesight :-)
I am using three eye drops twice a day “One Antibiotic and two for Anti-inflammatory” and have had NO pain or discomfort after the operation. My eye (Right) sight is a LOT better, I can see distance objects clearly without glasses. My Left eye is picking up the reading and close sight and my Right eye is doing the distance sight. Both eyes are working together so I can see near and far. Sounds complex but it is working great. The next operation on my Left eye will be to install a “Near” focus Lens for close work. I am told that this will be the best option for Reading/close work and Distance sight.
This is the BEST thing ever. Anyone needing this Cataract operation, go get it done NOW. You will wonder why you waited, as they say “This is a WIN-WIN” situation

Whos The Boss?
As my wife was babysitting our two young grandsons, they began to argue over a toy. Suddenly, the younger (by 3 years) forcefully ordered his older brother, Cameron, go to your room! Shoulders slumped under the weight of the reprimand, the dejected older brother began to slink off to his room when my wife said, Cameron, you dont have to go to your room. Nathans not the boss of you! That realization changed everything, and Cam, smiling, sat back down to play.
As followers of Christ, the reality of our brokenness and our inclination to sin can assume a false authority much like that younger brother. Sin noisily threatens to dominate our hearts and minds, and the joy drains from our relationship with the Savior.
But through the death and resurrection of Christ, that threat is an empty one. Sin has no authority over us. That is why Paul wrote, For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace (Rom. 6:14).
While our brokenness is very real, Christs grace enables us to live in a way that pleases God and expresses His transforming power to the world. Sin is no longer our boss. We now live in the grace and presence of Jesus. His dominion in our lives releases us from the bondage of sin.
Thank You for Your grace, Lord, that
cleanses us inside. Your grace is greater
than all our sin. We know we cant live without
it. And were grateful that we dont have to.
God pursues us in our restlessness, receives us in our sinfulness, holds us in our brokenness. Scotty Smith
: Previously in Romans, Paul has been teaching about our redemption and justificationhow through faith in Jesus Christ, God made us right with Him (3:214:25). Paul now deals with another aspect of our salvationsanctification (Rom. 6:18:39). Because we have been given a new life and a new relationship with God (6:4-14), He expects us to live differently and to mature in holiness.

I'm glad your surgery went well.
The good after surgery news you talk about eases my mind a bit on my upcoming cataract surgery.
Thanks again.

Good evening, EX...((HUGS))...been thinking about you and awaiting your report. Excellent report, by the way! Thank you!
Cataract surgery sounds very much the “same” as lasik. Mine is definitely going to happen early summer. I want all remnants of winter and snow and ice gone. My sister will probably come up from California and be my driver and be here for my Mom.
I’ve know a couple people that did the one eye far and one eye near thing for their lasik, but cataracts can be the same. Hmmmmm....
A Blessed Lord’s Day to you and yours.

Dear God: I ask that no Airman, Coast Guardsman, Marine, Sailor, Soldier, Reservist, National Guardsman, or Merchant Marine feel alone or forgotten.
O Israel, hope in the Lord; For with the Lord there is loving kindness, And with Him is abundant redemption. And He will redeem Israel From all his iniquities.

Good evening, Mayor, and thank you for today’s sustenance for body and soul.
A Blessed Lord’s Day to The Mayor family.
How is your weather? We had a huge wind storm! Branches down everywhere, but no trees in our yard. Trees are naked again...all the flocking was blown away.

"PUT ON THE WHOLE ARMOUR OF GOD"
|
_ |
INALLY, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. |
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all per- severance and supplication for all saints.
