ABC honcho’s ‘secret task force’ to investigate Brian Williams as NBC probes Iraq helicopter attack tale: sources
Ben Sherwood, the president of Disney-ABC Television Group, has put together the task force to see if the ‘NBC Nightly News’ anchor has told any other tall tales, sources told The Daily News on Friday. ABC officials denied that such a task force exists. Meanwhile, Richard Esposito, who leads the Peacock Network’s investigative unit, has been assigned to look into Williams for lying about dodging danger while reporting in Iraq, sources said.

Richard Esposito has been assigned to investigate the embattled “NBC Nightly News” anchor for lying about dodging danger while reporting in Iraq, sources told the Daily News on Friday.
Also, Ben Sherwood, the president of Disney-ABC Television Group, has put together a “secret task force” to comb through years of footage to see if Williams has told any other tall tales, the sources said. ABC officials strongly denied the task force’s existence.
The scandal has left the reporters and producers who work with Williams “shocked, furious and sad.” And they fear that the reputation of an anchor many considered “the most trusted name in news” has been wrecked, the sources said.
“Williams has no friends at the network,” one source said. “He has no one defending him. There's so much internal anger at NBC over what he has done and how it all went done.”

If true, ABC had better hope that there has been no bending of the truth by any of their staff.
Imagine if one of the alphabet media had created a “secret task force” to investigate Obama in 2007.

ABC’s Brian Ross has exaggerated some stories and assumed facts that were not in evidence several times.
And there is ABC’s problem, if this story is true. They need to stay out of this.

Limbaugh postulated that they will circle the wagons like they did with Rather...it may not work this time. Too many indians with tomahawks on this story to save him.
Brian Williams also said that during the Hurricane Katrina story he saw dead bodies floating in the street in the New Orleans French Quarter. A complete fabrication. There are many other Brian Williams whoppers coming out now.

On this contrary. This is much needed. It’s about time the reporters reported on the reporters. Who will guard the guardians and who will report on the reporters? Journalists shouldn’t be circling the wagon protecting Williams, they should be trying to find the truth, tell the truth, restore integrity and renew their profession.
As Managing Editor, did Williams have any part in the decision to air that editted tape?
Maybe they should reduce to the size of the “Fantastic Voyage” crew and sort it all out.
