Russia’s cooperation is needed to end the conflict.

Some form of federalization of Ukraine is inevitable.

There has to be full autonomy and provision for economic empowerment of all regions and their right to protect their language, culture and religious freedom.

I don’t see any other possible formula. Of course the West has to impress Poroshenko and Yasenyiuk with reality.

The country is fighting a war it can’t win.

I guess the same should be said for the United States then. A lot of people speaking a foreign language here these days. Are we going to carve up our nation like we demand the Ukraine carve up it’s nation?

The Ukraine government is the final word here, no matter how we like to determine their future for them.

Russia’s cooperation is not needed. This is outright Russian aggression which would not be happening had the Ukraine kept the nuclear weapons it inherited from the old USSR. The major lesson here is that Russia’s neighbors need nuclear weapons.
