EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. Notices have gone out to more than 1,700 Izod Center workers that they'll lose their jobs by the end of March because the arena is closing.
Almost all of the employees are part-time.
The Record (http://bit.ly/1zPZgk1 ) reports the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority says the layoffs include 618 stagehands, 263 security guards, 169 admissions workers, 116 trades workers, 66 box office employees, and 50 parking attendants....

AAAAAHH! They are releasing all the little alligators!!!
Apparently the RAP tours are not keeping up.
Excellent!!!!
The unemployment rate just went down another 1/2 point.
This economy is awesome!
I’ll lay money on it that more businesses have closed since 2012 or laid off employees than at another time in U.S. history.
but but but Obama said the Unemployment numbers were 5.6% and everyone is getting all those 10 Million Jobs he created...
DON’T_LET_THE_GREEN_SHOOTS_HIT_YA_ON_THE_WAY_OUT_PING!!!
Their jobs were probably outsourced to India.
Regards,
Wow, no more Meadowlands Arena. Saw many concerts and Devils games there before it was rebuilt as the Izod center. Now if only they get rid if that eyesore Xanadu thing that has been “under construction” for at least 10 years...
True, but you can’t really blame these layoffs on the economy. The Izod center was an obsolete arena, and both of its professional teams left for new arenas in the area - the Devils to Newark and the Nets to Brooklyn. It would have closed under the best economic conditions.
Ah yes...
The Brenden Byrne Arena..
Named after a former governor of New Jersey whose only claim to fame was that he foisted an income tax on Jersians who up till then had been incometax free...
Is it necessary to state he was a democrat?
Although Byrne claimed during the 1973 campaign that a personal income tax would not be necessary for "the foreseeable future", he eventually "muscled through" the unpopular income tax, New Jersey's first, in 1976; it earned him the nickname "One-Term Byrne" source
Unfortunately for New Jersey, he did manage to win a second term. New Jersey is after all home to braindamaged lieberals who vote the straight D ticket.
So Byrne was the George Romney of New Jersey.
George Romney...
He brought us the Rambler... ;-)
(Don’t know what he did for Michigan as governator though..)
i get confused with those alligators... does Izod still have the alligator? or did that go with La Coste only? i love La Coste pima shirts and La Coste White cologne...
I’m sure I’m dating myself, remembering the little alligators in the 80s. I really haven’t seen an IZOD shirt in long while.
His majesty brought the personal and corporate income tax to Michigan in collusion with his Demorat legislator cronies.
