Now, heres something you dont see everyday; a police officer from Ohio doing a routine traffic stop thanked the person he pulled over for having a concealed carry permit.
The man, who recorded the traffic stop, was driving 15 miles per hour over the speed limit. According to Ohio law, if youre approached by law enforcementand youre carrying a concealed firearm you must inform them.
Im happy to see more people with their CCWs [concealed carry weapons permit], especially with the world becoming the way it is, said the officer.
He then issued the man a warning and sent him on his way.
H/T Guns Saves Lives.
The cop will now be reprimanded by his superiors.
Does everything have to be recorded today? This coming from a guy who started out shooting with 8mm film cameras in the 1960s to shooting HD video now.
Ran into a friend of mine yesterday who is an insurance fraud investigator. He was in Detroit last week and 3 cops in a Dodge Charger pulled up next to him and asked him what he was doing and if he had a gun on him.
Of course he does, a S&W .45 1911, but didn’t want to admit it so he said “no”
One of the cops yelled at him...”WHY THE HELL NOT??? DON’T YOU KNOW WHERE YOU ARE?
Good for the cop, and it’s darned good advice.
I have a hunch the guy videoing the stop was a little surprised at the LEOs words.
I’m sure he was.
PS; more mountain lion tracks in my yard in the last few days.
Ping!
Thanks, I haven’t been finding many articles about them in the last couple years, are they still absolutely protected in CA or can they be killed if they threaten humans without getting busted?
It’s very good to see this.
L
Yes, they are protected, but can be killed in defense of human life. You have to get a depredation permit to shoot lions that kill livestock.
I had a similar experience here in Knoxville, TN a couple of years ago. Word to the wise: if you’re legally carrying and get stopped for a routine violation like speeding, always inform the officer because he’ll often get friendly and sometimes even reduce the ticket to a warning. IOW, it doesn’t matter if the law requires you to inform him, do it anyway.
Yes. Give him your permit with the license, even if not required as here in Virginia.
This is not an uncommon occurrence, We hear this often in our advanced firearms courses.
Wow!
THERE’s something you don’t hear everyday...
And there’s this:

Great attitude from a Public Servant. Emphasis on “Servant”.
But what do you think pops up on their screen as soon as they run your license? We are not required to do so here in Colorado either, but if stopped i would hand the cop my ccw along with my license.I would rather tell them than let them discover it on their own
If I didn’t have a ccw and was carrying in the car (legal in Co) then I would keep my mouth shut
