West Des Moines, IA U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas has confirmed he will participate in the first-ever Iowa Agriculture Summit on March 7, pushing the number of confirmed prospective presidential candidates in attendance to eight.
Former Govs. Jeb Bush, Mike Huckabee and Rick Perry, U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, New York businessman Donald Trump and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker were the first prospective candidates to confirm their participation in the bipartisan event that will be held at the Elwell Family Food Center on the Iowa State Fairgrounds, Des Moines.
I am very pleased that Sen. Cruz will join us at the Ag Summit. Interest continues to grow not only among potential candidates but also with the general public and media across the state and around the country, said Bruce Rastetter, the Iowa entrepreneur and philanthropist was is organizing the event. The Iowa Agriculture Summit promises to be an informative and insightful forum. Were looking forward to more speakers confirming in the days ahead.
Each speaker at the summit will appear on stage alone with Rastetter for 20 minutes to answer questions about the broad range of issues facing American farmers and agribusinesses, including modern agriculture practices, renewable fuels, biosciences, genetically modified organisms (GMOs), grain and livestock markets, land conservation, federal subsidies and other related topics.
The event will also feature Governor Terry Branstad, Lt. Governor Kim Reynolds and Senator Charles Grassley.

Corn-ethanol uber alles.
Donald Trump couldn’t identify a soybean from a glass marble.
Go Ted Go!
Where are Hillary, Fauxcahontas, and Bernie Sanders?
Hillary already knows all about livestock markets, Liawatha is an expert on maize, and Bernie is just plain nuts
Yes, federal lawmakers do have some bona fide constitutional interest in the agriculture summit because of federal constitutional authority to regulate interstate trade and also trade with foreign countries.
But beware of the following. Regardless what FDRs activist justices wanted everybody to think about the scope of Congresss Commerce Clause powers when it wrongly decided Wickard v. Filburn, 1942 in corrupt Congresss favor in 1942, FDRs thug justices also wrongly ignored the following.
They ignored that the Supreme Court had historically clarified that the states have never delegated to the feds, expressly via the Constitution the specific power to regulate either intrastate commerce or intrastate agricultural production.
State inspection laws, health laws, and laws for regulating the internal commerce of a State, and those which respect turnpike roads, ferries, &c. are not within the power granted to Congress [emphases added]. Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.
From the accepted doctrine that the United States is a government of delegated powers, it follows that those not expressly granted, or reasonably to be implied from such as are conferred, are reserved to the states, or to the people. To forestall any suggestion to the contrary, the Tenth Amendment was adopted. The same proposition, otherwise stated, is that powers not granted are prohibited. None to regulate agricultural production is given, and therefore legislation by Congress for that purpose is forbidden [emphasis added]. United States v. Butler, 1936.
I also question what the farm subsidies are going to be used for. Remember, if Congress cannot justify appropriated funds under its constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers, then regard such funds as stolen state revenues.
BUMP
Cruz is the embodiment of leadership traits and principles; one who is able to gain the trust, loyalty and confidence of “We The People”, in his effort to restore, protect, and defend our Constitution, our Free Republic.
CRUZ 2016!
Doesn't appear that any Dems were invited.
“Donald Trump couldnt identify a soybean from a glass marble.”
That may be true .. but I think he may be smart enough to hire people who do know the difference.
