If you do business in Venezuela, you don’t get the money from your customers but the government. The government can take years and years to pay, and now often does not pay at all. It controls the exchange rates, no matter what is the actual facts on the ground.
Why would anyone do business under these conditions?

The laughable reason is that the chain was not selling its products (in other words they lost money to competitors on purpose I guess)
