Years ago, someone told me that same thing about Corona. They said that Corona was considered the Blatz or Old Milwaukee of Mexico.
But a very astute marketing plan here in the US made it cool to drink it here and drop up sales.
I don’t know if this story is true. It’s just what someone told me. They guy, IIRC, had some kind of connection to wine/beer/liquor retailing or marketing.
